Prom expectations.

The car came to a stop in the garage with a screeching sound. "What is going on, Ezekiel?" Abigail cried out, her face displaying obvious fear. "Fast into the house," Ezekiel said, causing her to become more nervous. A group of men in black suits were waiting at the door as they entered the building. When she became frightened and stopped moving, Ezekiel saw it and moved to stand by her side. "You need not worry, they are with us," he comforted her. They started moving once more, and when they arrived at the entrance where the men in black suits were, Ezekiel approached them and mumbled something in their ears. "Always be alert for potential threats." Abigail tugged at his hand as he was about to walk away from her, causing him to turn back to face her. "What is going on, Ezekiel? You are scaring me," she said, her eyes welling with tears. "My dear, once we enter, I will reveal everything; at this moment, it is unsafe," Ezekiel said, dabbing away her tears. They resumed their stroll after she gave a nod. Her mother hurried over to her side as soon as she saw her parents, who were seated in the living room when she arrived home. "We got your message, and I guess you were right, it was indeed Victor," her father exclaimed as they all took their seats. "Who is Victor?" The timid voice of Abigail resounded in the space. "I know you have had a long day, darling, why don't you go to your room?" her mother said. "I believe it is ideal for her to hear this," Ezekiel stated, glancing at Abigail and nodding. "Hey sweetheart, Victor is one of your father's and my enemies who we jailed a long time ago. He was released, and now it seems he wants to exact revenge on us," Ezekiel said. Is he targeting me as well? Curiosity prompted Abigail to ask. "Well, it seems like he targets the weaker of us first," he remarked. "I received a scary message from an unknown sender yesterday," Abigail exclaimed. Her words caught everyone's attention. "What message is that," her father inquired. When Abigail pulled out her phone and read the message, they were all perplexed. "Why didn't you tell us sooner?" her mother asked, her face filled with worry. "I thought it might not be serious and I did not want to bother you all," she answered. "Look, sweetheart, I do not want you to freak out, but our enemy is still in the blue, and you are in a life-threatening situation." Ezekiel said. "We are just aware of his identity; we are not privy to the plot he is attempting to execute," he went on. "I guess we were wrong to think he would approach you at your prom," the woman said. " Will I be unable to go to prom?" she questioned warily. "Darling, you will," her dad told her. "Ezekiel will be going as your date because there is no reason on earth that your prom night will be ruined," her father said. "I will be alert for any potential turn of events," Ezekiel declared. As Martha entered the quiet room, she cleared her throat. "Dinner is ready," she said, startling everyone out of their reverie. "Let us go to the dining hall," her mom pushed her. Dinner was very quiet and eerie; everyone was clearly lost in thought, and the sound of the silverware striking the plates was the only sound to be heard. Ezekiel offered to walk Abigail to her room after supper. "Do not worry about what is going on; I am here to protect you, and I promise not a strand of your hair will be touched," Ezekiel said sternly. She nodded and smiled. "I trust you, and I will do the same to protect you," she said, reaching out to kiss his cheek. "Goodnight, dear," he smiled as he tucked her into bed. "Good night, Ezekiel," she said in return. After several days of everyone being cautious in their movements, prom finally arrived. Abigail had awoken long before her alarm had gone off, even though she was still in bed. She maintained her position because she was lost in thought. The events of yesterday were so overwhelming that she found it hard to accept that she might be in danger. With a sigh, she got out of bed and proceeded to the restroom. After using the facilities, she went downstairs to the dining hall while still in her pajamas. "Good morning, sweetie," her parents said. "Good morning, mom and dad," she uttered while scanning the room for Ezekiel. "Where is Ezekiel?" she asked. " He went out for a while now, but he will be back in few minutes" her mother said After breakfast, they were about to leave the hall when the door flew open and Ezekiel entered. " Ezekiel!!!..." She screamed and ran to him, hugging him tightly. "Hello darling," he exclaimed. "Were you scared I would leave on your prom night?" She pouted her lips towards him. "I was afraid for your safety," she exclaimed. "I apologize for making you worry, dear." "So why don't you go prepare for prom? We would not want to be late on your big day," he said with a teasing wink. Abigail nodded and exited the room. She wore her prom dress, which Ezekiel had gotten for her. Martha helped her dress up, apply makeup, and style her hair. "You look more beautiful than a goddess could ever be." Martha praised her. "Thank you, Martha," she replied with a shy smile. She went over to the mirror and twirled around, amazed at how she looked. Her jaw dropped when she saw the time; they would been at it for five hours. Although the result was worthwhile, she had completely lost track of time. They made their way to the living room, where they knew Ezekiel would be waiting. "You look stunning," Ezekiel complimented her. She twirled to show him the full view of her dress. He extended his hands, and when she took them, he pulled her in, pressed her body against his, and wrapped his hands around her waist before bending over and whispering into her ear. "I will not let anything happen to you, I promise; just never leave my sight," he pleaded. "I won't," she stated with a reassuring smile.
