After "Can't Buy Me Love" we heard the biggest ovation of the morning, but it got better. We charged right into "Love Is a beautiful Thing" by the Rascals, another all white band, but inner-city Italian, which made them cool to black kids, too. Besides, lead singer Felix Cavaliere sounded pretty soulful when he put his mind and heart to it.
This was my time to shine. From a young age I had a pretty good voice, not opera quality, but definitely rock worthy. I was a decent bass player, too.
