Her She stared at him for a long time, not believing her eyes. She waited for him to evaporate, so she'd know she was only dreaming. Her heart raced, and her wolf jumped with so much excitement. Was this real? Did he just appear in front of her? The first ten seconds were filled with anxiety. She was battling with her subconscious. She stared at him continually, until he broke the silence. "For a wife who's missed her husband, this is not how to react, my butterfly." He came close to her, reaching for a hug. Out of reflex, she unsheathed her sword. A tear dropped down her eyes and all she felt was anger. Fortunately, he was alert enough to dodge all attempts to stab him. "Where have you been all these while!?" She asked, almost swinging the sword to his neck. He dodged, however. "Let me explain, butterfly!" She refused to let go. She was much too angry. "Seven years! You were away for seven years!" She attempted to stab him but, as usual, she missed. Understanding she wasn't planning to give up, he brought his sword and both of them began a combat. "Do you know how many nights I've stared blankly at the sky, waiting for you?" "I have waited for you too, " he tried to say, dodging all of her attacks. They were destroying the garden she took years to build. "Liar!" She screamed out, aiming for his neck again. "If only you listen to me, butterfly!" "You no longer have the right to call me that. You lost it the moment you stopped conversing with me." "Please, listen to me. " She pointed a sword directly at him, "Get the hell out of my sight!" Her eyes were now watery with tears, she could no longer contain whatever she felt. Instead of him leaving, he unexpectedly hugs her tight. All the anger she felt in him evaporated. She hugged him back, crying still. Her sword dropped from her hands. "Where have you been? What took you so long? You said you'd come back to me." "And, I did. Let me explain this, please. " "Let me go! " He didn't let go. Instead, he hugged her tight. "Never again, Raina. Never again." ... "I kept trying to come back, I promise. Each time I try to come, however, a group of soldiers will ambush me." She tried to believe him. "Soldiers? From where? " "I don't know that." She stared at him in disbelief, "You never mentioned it once in any of your letters. You are lying to me, Tyler. You found someone else and left your mate hanging." "That's not true. I would never do that. You were continually in my thoughts. " "Why then, did you stop communicating with me?" "I trained under the Utopian Pack's army. I wanted to raise my own army that would aid me to come back to the palace. Part of their rules indicated that a soldier mustn't communicate with the outside world. " "You should've told me, Tyler. I waited for so long. Do you expect me to just hug you and act like things will be fine? Do you know the things I had to go through because of you? " He held her close to him, "I'm so sorry I let you go once. That's not one thing I want to do again. " "I'm sorry, Tyler. I've moved on already. I now... " Before she could finish her sentence, he forced a kiss on her lips. He expected her to push him away, to slap him and call him a jerk. He expected her to pull away, but, instead, she kept going. She longed for his kiss, She longed for his touch. She could not control herself any longer - all she wanted was for him to claim her. With so much force, he carried her into her chambers, tearing everything she put on. " I have waited Seven years, I will not wait any further, " Tyler's wolf muttered as he dug his fangs deep into her skin. ... Him He rose at dusk, watching the moonlight. The sun was far from rising. He could not believe he claimed her after everything she had done to him. How was he so intoxicated by her love that he could not control his wolf urges? The events of the night replayed in his memories, her soft moans while he pulled her close to him, her screams when his wolf took control of her body... He was a prisoner of love. With every self-blame, he remembered her innocent face. Could she also be a prisoner of love? They were childhood friends. How could she have committed such atrocious crime? Was she innocent? He hated himself for thinking she was innocent. He hated himself for loving her so much. He hated himself for letting his emotions get the best of him. He did not train in Seth's army for three years to be easily fooled by love in one day. How powerful true love was. ... "Why did you come back?" A voice spoke from his background. He remembered the owner of the voice. The same voice that convinced him to leave with his mother. The same voice that convinced his father that he and Raina should be let to love in peace. His voice was now hoarse with age. "I have returned, Beta Demitri Jackson." He replied, facing Demitri. "I don't know what you have against me but do not bring Raina into this. " He smiled, "What makes you think I have something against you? " "I will never let you marry my daughter, Tyler. I would never let a soldier of Seth marry her. " "Too late, Beta. The decisions of an Alpha can not be changed by a person of lower rank. " "You were gone for more than five years, Tyler. You can no longer be the Alpha. " Tyler smiled, "That was always your plan. " "There are many things you don't know about, son. However, I can assure you that you are going to make a big mistake." Tyler gave Alpha Demitri a powerful glare, "You have no right to call me son again, after everything you have done to me." "And over my dead body, will I let you have your way with my daughter again, not the leader of the army responsible for her mother's death? " Tyler smiled, "You asked for it. "
