Chapter 20-The End

Margo couldn’t fathom what was happening to her or her friends. She was actually shocked to be caught by the council. Looking across from her cell, she saw Ava but didn’t say anything. Thomas was in the cell next to Serena and Selma. He didn’t look at anyone just at the wall.

“What do you think will happen?” Serena whispered to Selma.

“I think they will hold a trial. Otherwise, I don’t exactly know what the council does with criminals.” Selma said.

The door opened, the trackers and filed in the room. Stopping by each cell dropping off food then leaving the room again. The food looked like old cafeteria food that was left out. The group ate it since they were starving. After eating, the door opened again, Lucius came in the room. He stopped in front of Margo’s cell and opened. In his hand there were handcuffs and placed them on her wrists. Lucius dragged to the questioning in room on the same floor with the cells.

Margo was forced to sit down and Miles was waiting for her. Miles waved the others out of the room. He simply looked at Margo and said, “I am sure you know why we have you here. I am sorry. I never introduced myself. My name is Miles Wentz. Lucius is my son. I am sure you know who be is.”

“Yes, I am aware of who you are and Lucius. Why am I here exactly?” Margo asked playing dumb. She knew why she was here.

“The murder of Magnus Weller. Ring a bell” Miles snapped.

“I had nothing to do with his murder. He murdered my parents in front of me. How should I be blamed for his dead when it was my friend who ripped up like a chew toy.” Margo told Miles, “Or the fact, your son has been stalking me since I learned I was a witch.”

Miles did not say anything and gets up to leave. Before leaving he turned to Margo, “You and your friends are not going to leave here without a little surprise.”

Margo was by herself until the trackers came back in to grab her. She makes it back to her cell. Her friends were each questioned. Knowing Selma had nothing to do with the events that happened at Margo’s house. They did not bother talking to Serena she was only a victim in their eyes. They let Selma, Thomas, and Serena leave. They only kept Ava and Margo.

The girls heard whispers coming from the trackers about what could happen to the two girls being held prisoner. Margo looked at Ava. Ava didn’t speak to her since coming down here.

A week has passed since coming to the council prison. The trackers come back for both Ava and Margo. Both girls were taken to the trial room to face the other society members. The room was filled with other witches, werewolves, and vampires surrounding them in the center of the room. The room was like arena seating. The girls were placed inside a cube forced to face the crowd. Margo noticed Miles standing at a podium. Next to him was Lucius and many other council members who she never met until now. People were staring and whispering to either probably why they were summoned.

Miles stood up at the podium after whispering to Lucius. He turned towards the crowd, “Welcome everyone! You are probably wondering why you all are here tonight. I bet you heard the news that a couple of weeks ago. Magnus was murdered. You probably wondering why these two girls behind me are here. These two girls are the ones who murder Magnus Weller.”

The crowd grasped in surprise and booed at the girls. Margo tried to shrink down in her seat. Ava looked the crowd and growled. The trackers shoved Ava who tried to stand up to protest. They pushed her back in her seat. Margo was so close to tears from what could happen to them. Miles stopped talking at the podium and gets down.

The council who surrounds the cube that seated Margo and Ava. One member stood up from there seat and said, “My name is Ethan. We are here for the trial of Margo and Ava vs. The Council.” Ethan sits back down. Another stood up and looks at the two girls, they explain why they were here and what they charged with. Then when the trial was about to start, there was a big explosion in the middle of the room. One of the council members flopped forward on the desk. The other members started freaking out and started screaming. The bang happened again. A vampire fell forward and died. Another shot happened, society members started freaking out and flooding the arena to leave.

Thomas came out from behind a column and ran towards the girls. Hurried to get them out of the arena as fast as possible.

“What are you doing here?” Margo questioned as Thomas held her hand.

“There’s no time to explain. We need to leave.” Thomas said. He grabbed Ava and Margo behind him out the back door.

The three hurried out the door. They were stopped by Lucius.

“THOMAS. YOU ARE A TRAITOR! I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS!” Lucius shouted. No one heard the shouting going on outside.

Lucius marches towards them and is flings back towards to the wall. Margo had her hand out in front of her. Lucius was knocked out by her. The trio runs away towards to the woods. They managed to escape. The trio made it to the shed where Cassandra’s body was held. There was a van that Margo never saw before. Thomas ran over to it and picked the lock. He hot wired the car to turn on. They managed to grabbed Serena who was outside.

“How did you guys escape from the council?” Serena asked.

“We can’t explain. We are leaving EverGreen for good. We came to say goodbye.” Ava announced. She went over to hug her friend. Then Ava got back in the car.

Margo held onto Thomas’s hand after Ava told Serena goodbye. She looked out the window as they were leaving the town behind. Also, Margo kind of feared the future was all she thought. What could happen to them?
