They spent couple hours on the road from Caribou, Maine driving to Bradford. Stopping for bathroom and snacks along the way.
“Are we going to stop a motel for the night?” Thomas asked.
“We will once stop for gas again.” Selma replied.
“Didn’t we just get gas not long ago?” Serena asked.
“Yes, this is just in case measure. Okay.” Selma insisted.
“Okay,” They said in unison.
No one questioned Selma any further. She got the gas and left to find the nearest hotel. Then they planned their next steps to figure where to go from there. They went to sleep for the night.
That night, Margo couldn’t sleep about what happened back at the cabin. What could it mean her magic is the source of the trouble for everyone. It made her scared to think if Magnus Weller were still alive, what would he do to her? She stared at the ceiling hoping for sleep to come but didn’t. Turning towards the other neighbor bed in the room, she noticed Thomas still awake.
Thomas looks over and saw Margo still awake. He mouths, “Do you want to go for a walk? “and silently getting up from the bed. Margo did the same. Both of them went to down to the lobby to sit and chat while others slept.
“What do you think Selma has in mind for “witch library”?” Margo asked.
“I have no idea. It would have helped if she told us more though. It would make sense why Lucius would be after you for awhile. You do have a magic signature. Syphon witches need a strong power source to do magic and that would more likely be you.” Thomas somewhat explained.
“My magic maybe strong but what could bind it from me being accessible by Lucius?” Margo asked.
“I don’t know” Thomas answered.
“Selma knows the answer to that question. That’s partly why she wanted to see if we could find something to bind your magic to help be free from the council. We need to make sure no trackers are in the area of where we are going. I think Selma might know someone who can help us” Thomas suggests.
“Do you think we could trust Selma with what she is planning on doing?” Margo asked.
“I don’t think you should worry about it. We have to try anything we could at our disposal” Thomas tries to reassure Margo.
“We should get back to the room before the others think the worst happened.” Thomas said. Giving his hand out to Margo to take. Margo grabbed it.
They walk back to the room and got back to bed.
Selma was poking Margo in the face and said, “Wakey, wakey. You over slept.”
Groaning and rubbing sleep from her eyes and asked, “What time is it?”
“Around 10 am.” Selma answers.
She goes over to Thomas and does the same thing. Thomas swats her hand away turns back over then goes back to sleep. Ava decides to jump on him instead. He grunts and falls out of bed onto the floor.
“Ava, why did you do that. I hate when you do that?” Thomas interjected.
“Well, you won’t wake up. We have plans for today.” Ava pushed on him then smacked him.
“Fine” Thomas whined and gathered his clothes to get dressed. Slamming the bathroom door in the process.
Margo did the same after watching angry Thomas goes towards the bathroom.
Everyone was ready to go but on the way towards the lobby, they see two men dressed in black trench coats wearing sunglasses talking to the receptionist. Ava was only one who had sensitive hearing and she got near the turn of the hall to listen in
“No one came in by that description. Sorry, but we don’t just give out the any customers information for privacy reasons. You guys aren’t the cops.” The receptionist answered.
“This isn’t good. The trackers found us. We need to go like right now?” Ava suggests urgently.
They quickly went back towards the room and locked it. They decided to wait in the room until night to go towards the library. Margo decided to catch up on much needed sleep from the stress from the last couple of days. The others just talked and watched TV for the whole day.
