Roxy’s pov
I woke up very early that morning, long before anyone came to check on me. The room was still dim, the light outside barely coming in through the curtains, but I was already wide awake.
I had barely slept, I was awake till around three am and only fell asleep just a few hours ago. I looked at the big clock on the wall and it was just six am, I rolled my eyes and sighed.
I didn’t even try to go back to sleep. My mind had been too active all night for that. I had thought about everything he said, every word, and every hidden meaning behind his offer. By the time morning came, I had already made my decision.
I got out of bed immediately.
There was no hesitation in my movements as I went to freshen up and get dressed, there was no need to hesitate now , I've already decided what would be best for me .
I immediately went to freshen up and chose something simple but neat. I didn’t want to look like I was trying too hard, but I also refused to look weak or careless. I tied my hair back neatly and adjusted the black pants on my body, making sure everything sat properly on my body.
Just as I finished, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” I said.
Two servants walked in carrying trays of food. The smell filled the room almost instantly, but I ignored it. I watched as they placed the food neatly on the table close to the sofa, and then they stepped back.
I walked to the sofa and sat down crossing my legs, I watched them as they stood there waiting for me to start eating.
“I won’t be eating here,” I said, finally breaking the silence.
They both looked at me immediately.
“I’ll be having breakfast with Julian.”
The reaction was exactly what I expected.
The taller one stared at me like I had completely lost my mind and the other looked confused but tried to hide it.
They were probably wondering why a prisoner would be calling the Alpha by his name and requesting to have breakfast with him.
There was a brief silence between us before one of them finally spoke.
“Are you sure?” she asked carefully.
“Yes,” I replied calmly. “Go and inform him.”
She hesitated for a second, then nodded and turned to leave the room. The other servant wanted to stay behind but I urged her to go along and she agreed.
The moment the door closed, I stood up and moved quickly toward it. I pressed my ear against the wood, trying to hear what was happening outside. My room was close to the breakfast table and with my acute hearing I was sure I would be able to hear them.
I could hear faint footsteps as they walked away, then stopped.one of them told him about my request hesitantly, she was almost stammering as she spoke.
I held my breath, trying to catch anything, to at least hear a response but I couldn’t hear his voice.
Did he refuse?Does he think I'm too less to be at table with him? I'm a princess for lord's sake.
After a few seconds, I heard footsteps again and I knew they were coming back
I quickly moved away from the door and went back to the sofa. I sat down calmly, arranging myself properly like I had never moved from that spot and crossing my legs again. My face was neutral like I didn't care if he agreed to it or not.
When the door opened, I was already seated and waiting
“The High Alpha says you can join him,” the servant said with a hint of surprise in her voice.
I nodded once. “Alright.”
She carried the tray of food and they left the room.
I didn’t get up immediately.
I stayed seated for a while, just to avoid looking too eager. I didn’t want it to seem like I had been waiting desperately for his approval. I needed to appear calm, controlled and unaffected.
After some minutes, I finally stood up and walked out of the room at a steady pace. The guards outside didn’t stop me, which meant he had already given instructions and that made things easier. They usually stopped me immediately I opened the door.
When I got to the dining area, he was already seated there and it looked like he was waiting
I walked in without hesitation and went straight to the table. I noticed immediately that a plate had already been set to his left for me
He knew, the arrogant godlike man knew I would request to have breakfast with him, he knew I would agree.
“Welcome,” he said as soon as I sat down
I nodded slightly. “Thank you.”
I didn’t waste time. I picked up the cutlery and started eating. I was hungry, but I also didn’t want to make it obvious, so I ate at a normal pace.
He didn’t speak nor did I.The silence continued for a while, but it wasn’t uncomfortable.
After I finished eating, I dropped my cutlery gently and cleared my throat.
“I had all night to think about it,” I said.
He nodded but didn't interrupt me
“You were right,” I continued. “It would be a win-win deal.”
I glanced at him and like I guessed, that arrogant smirk on his face and I didn't like it.
I knew he already knew I would agree but seeing it on his face didn't help matters. This was going exactly the way he planned it.
I took a slow breath and continued anyway.
“But,” I added.
“You have to keep your own part of the deal,” I said. “You help me find my mum.”
There was a brief pause as he leaned back slightly, looking at me carefully.
“I promise,” he said calmly. “It would be low of me to lie, hold me to my status.”
I held his gaze for a moment, trying to see if there was anything behind his words. Anything that would tell me if he meant it or not.
But his expression didn’t change, his eyes only filled with assurance like a man who always kept his word,or a man who knew how to make people believe he did.
I looked away first and picked up a glass of water gulping it slowly. I dropped the glass carefully
“Alright,” I said quietly.
He nodded and pushed his plate back before standing up. He bowed slightly before leaving the dining room .
