Chapter-13 Revelation

Hope’s POV Leon didn’t look pleased to be interrupted like that, but I was glad he was willing to speak. I knew barely anything about him, and s*x couldn’t be the only language we spoke between us. “Tell me everything…” I said, fighting to catch my breath. “Whatever my parents told me about what you do…is that true?” “What did they tell you?” He raised a brow. “They said you're the President of a motorcycle club. That you're involved in drugs, weapons, trafficking...” I hesitated. "Say it, doll..." Leon urged, his gaze locking into mine. I inhaled deeply, my heart pounding in my chest. “Murder..." I mumbled. "Have…have you killed anyone?” Leon was quiet for a moment before asking, “What if I have? Would you hate me? Like your parents probably do?” “My parents don't hate you.” “You're a bad liar, doll.” He scoffed. “Half of Ashbourne hates me, especially the elite. I don't give a f**k about that, though. But what about you? Would you hate me?” “No…” I shook my head. “I don't think I could ever hate you. And I don't feel like you're someone who would take an innocent life for no reason.” He reached over and brushed a strand of hair away from my face. “No,” he finally said. “I've beaten people to death, and make no mistake, I'm very capable of killing if it comes down to it. But I haven't murdered anyone. Not yet.” Relief loosened something in my chest. “And your parents were right about the rest,” he continued. “I do deal in drugs, weapons, trafficking... but not the way they imagine. Yes, Black Banner is an outlaw club, but we're not some group of idiots running around without rules.” “I don't understand,” I admitted. “What exactly is a motorcycle club? What do you people actually do?” Leon shifted beside me, throwing me a look of barely contained frustration and need. “It’s a group of people who choose to ride together, protect one another, and live by their own rules. They build their own businesses, look after their territory, and answer to the club before anyone else.” I frowned. “So... is it different from a pack?” He nodded. “It’s a brotherhood built outside the pack system. Most wolves are born into packs where bloodline determines their place. MCs work differently. You choose your brothers, earn your place, and swear loyalty to the club rather than a family name. We don’t care about bloodline or rank. An Alpha can wear our patch just as easily as a lone wolf. Anyone can join. Your blood doesn’t decide where you belong. You do.” “So you don’t have ranks and stuff?” “We do, but the structure is different. There are prospects, patched members, and officers, with the Vice President beneath the President.” “And that’s you?” “That’s me.” A hint of pride flickered across his eyes. “So you run the whole club?” “Yes. I make the final decisions, handle alliances and disputes, protect the club’s interests, and answer for every man who wears its patch.” “You're way too young for all these responsibilities,” I grimaced, shaking my head. “I’m twenty-five,” he said, almost amused. “Old enough. My father was President before me. And he took over when he was eighteen. He was really good. When he stepped down, the club needed someone to take his place.” “And so you took over because you're his son? Like in the packs?” I demanded. “I earned it.” A hint of pride entered his voice. “My father being President wasn't a guarantee I'd become one. That's not how an MC works. I had to go through brutal trials.” “Where is your father then?” I asked. “Why did he step down?” Leon went still. The easy confidence he'd carried throughout the conversation vanished in an instant as he looked away. “Leon, what is it?” I reached for him, turning his face back toward me. His expression had changed so suddenly that it sent a chill through me. Something was wrong. “Tell me,” I whispered. “Please.” He was silent for a long moment, his jaw tight. Then he finally looked at me. “He’s dead.” I stared blankly at him, not sure I'd heard him right. “What?” I mumbled. Leon nodded slowly. “He was murdered... and so was my mother.” I couldn't find a response. My fingers slowly slipped from his face as Leon's jaw tightened, his expression hardening as something dark settled over his features. “Right in front of my eyes.”
