The lecture ended and soon enough the entire room was filled with murmurs and laughs. I hung my bag on my shoulders and took a deep breath because in some seconds, Ash, Felix and KAi would be all over me and so would the eyes of every thirsty ass girl still in here. I was going to be fodder for the rumor mill. This was not what I wanted on my first day here.
Regardless of how I felt, I sucked it up, turned around and made my way up those steps. Only, I didn’t reach the boys as quickly as I thought I would. Bright blue eyes stared back at me and perfectly manicured nails twirled the strawberry blonde hair of the girl who blocked my way. Behind her stood two other girls who were no doubt her lackeys. Both had brown hair, colored and curled the same way with the same eyes that pierced my soul. Twins.
I paused and watched them, hoping that this was all some mistake and they needed some space to pass. I moved to the side to give them that space but the trio just stared at me, their eyes sizing me up and their brains, no doubt wondering why I was the talk of the class in just under a minute. I sighed and straightened my shoulders. Well, there goes my peaceful time in college.
“What’s your name?” The blonde one asked me with a voice as smooth as honey.
I was lowkey stumped by it. I mean if she didn’t present herself to be the b***h of the school already, she would have most likely been a heartthrob for the guys.
“Luna.” I answered, not shying away from the conversation. I was just going to treat this as a normal interaction and not the shakedown that it actually was.
The blonde snorted and laughed.
“Luna? Really? Your parents couldn’t even give you a better name than that. Or are you the child of an Alpha?”
I shrugged at her.
“I don’t know. My parents are dead.” I told her, looking her in the eye.
There were a few gasps from the crowd that was now watching us and I could see the blonde’s eye twitch in annoyance at my answer. She fixed her face and continued.
“Well, I would call this an introduction but I’m sure that you already know who I am. So, in the spirit of…”
“I have no idea who you are.” I announced, giving her a weird look.
Blondy literally froze for a second before her face turned into a grimace.
‘Excuse me?”
I rolled my eyes as her lackeys clutched their pearls because of what I said. I was in no mood for this. I had more important things to worry about.
“Look, I’ve got to go. I have important things to handle so if we could wrap this up that would be nice.”
Like a two sided coin, blondy did a complete 180. Her lip morphed into a snarl and her eyes shone even brighter. She shifted partially, her claws in full display.
“Look b***h,” She hissed as she took a step closer to me, her veins throbbing like they were about to pop.
“The only reason that I’m not ripping you to shreds right now is because you’re new so you still have time to learn how to address your seniors. There are rules to follow here at Moon Valley but I’ll let you in on the most important one.” She mentioned before she leaned in to whisper into my ear.
“Stay the hell away from Ash. He’s mine.”
“Is that a threat?”
Blondy chuckled and stood straight, folding her arms as her features turned back to normal.
“Try me new girl.”
I glanced between her and then at the group of boys watching me from the sidelines. My eyes landed on Ash who had a frown on his face and anger pooling in his eyes. I turned back to his more than enthusiastic admirer and licked my lips in frustration.
“I don’t want your man. You can keep him. He’s not my type anyway.” I told her as a matter of fact before I pushed through her little possy and walked up the remainder of the steps not even bothering to wait for Felix, Kai and Ash.
Hands grabbed onto me before I could move forward and I knew that things were escalating quickly.
“You do not speak to me that way w***e. Do you think that we don’t see it? Are you getting special treatment from the boys because you’re sleeping with them? Is that all you could do to get into their good graces?”
My head spun like I had whiplash and something took over me. It was like I was a whole different person. I could be insulted and overlooked but I was not going to be called a w***e by a bimbo looking b***h. My hand turned around grabbing hers as I felt my wolf come forward. I bared my fangs and angled my hand so that my claws grew into her skin. Blondy whined but composed herself, staring me in the eye and not backing down.
“Mind your tongue or I’ll cut it off and feed it to you.” I warned her, the threat coming so easy to me. I’ve always been a pacifist but this girl brought out the worst in me.
“You…” Blondy raged as she raised her other free hand to swipe at me but to my surprise, strong hands held her back.
I looked up just in time to see As standing between us, an unamused look on his face.
“Stop it, Lea.” He commanded her before he pried my hand off her arm and let her go.
I blinked and looked at my hands as the anger I felt washed away. What the hell was that?
I was at a loss for words when the next thing I knew, I felt a hand on my back leading me back up the stairs. I could hear the murmurs start up and simmer down as I walked away, my head already pounding from that stupid interaction with the blonde.
“I didn’t know you had that much spunk in you.” I heard Felix speak up before I saw him and the rest of the group walk next to me.
“You don’t know a lot about me.” I muttered, wishing that they would just leave me alone, especially since I really didn’t know what just happened to me at that moment.
“Well, you really showed Lea. I was hoping someone other than us would put her in her place.” Kai chimed in.
I didn’t bother replying. Same as Ash didn’t bother speaking on the matter. The three of them walked me back to my dorm in complete silence. Felix opened the door for me to go in but I stopped and turned to them with a serious look on my face.
“You can’t come in.”
“What?” Felix exclaimed as he c****d his head.
“I already have enemies because of one of you. I don’t need more.” I explained, turning my attention to Ash to prove my point.
“That wasn’t my fault.” Ash finally spoke up but I was too tired to care.
“I know you guys are just trying to protect me but I can function without you. Sometimes I just need some time to myself and that includes when I go for lectures. You cannot stalk me or show up at my dorm without asking me first and under no circumstance are any of you to touch me in public.” I breathed, letting the list of rules I had in my head all out.
The trio shared a look before they all nodded at me, seemingly understanding what I meant.
“We’ll still guard your room at night to prevent Derek from coming back.” Kai announced, his tone not really asking for permission this time.
“Fine.”
I sighed in agreement before I turned to Ash for one final thing.
“Keep your girlfriend away from me Ash. I don’t need to be attacked by that banshee everyday when I have real problems on my hands.”
Ash, who looked a bit flushed, opened his mouth to speak while Felix and Kai cackled but I didn’t wait around to listen to them babble on. I had to get to my bed. Kai was right. I needed rest.
