Chapter Two

LEVI.
“Can you believe it?! We are finally going home!” Leo, my best friend and future Beta exclaims as he packs up our clothes.
“We are heading to the Orion pack, first before going home,” I correct him. “Stupid ritual,” I mutter under my breath.
“You know, you have to be the only wolf that is not excited about the ritual,” he remarks. “You know, it is a necessity. A means to let go of all pent up tension before we get down to business.”
“I can handle my tension just fine,” I retort as I flop down on the bed.
“No, you can't,” he says with a serious tone as he faces me. “You of all people can't risk losing control, the Lycan part of you needs an outlet.”
“Running will do that.”
“A s****l outlet! Dammit Levi, you know this! Why are you being so stubborn.”
“It's not about me being stubborn!” I snap as I get to my feet. “Maybe I don't want to have s*x with slutty women who would jump at the chance to use us to further their own agenda.”
“It is tacky, I agree, but necessary. Those females don't mind being used -”
“Well, I do. Is it so wrong to want to have a sane girl, meaningful connections”
“It is just one night, Levi. One night. If not for yourself at least do it for the wolf in you. As well as the Lycan.”
Yes, I have a wolf side and a lycan side.
Both ruthless, both immensely powerful, and both with terrible tempers.
It has given me the reputation of the most heartless and cruelest wolf ever known and a healthy dose of fear from my contemporaries.
Not that I mind that part.
It keeps the fools at bay.
“Fine,” I say as I give in. “It is just one night. I can do that, so please, stop nagging me already. It is bad enough that we are having the ritual at Theo’s pack. Goddess, he has been unbearable since the news circulated.”
“Don't remind me,” he replies as he goes back to arranging the clothes. “With the way he has been behaving, you would think he single handedly fought a war and won. I mean, it is just a party where your she wolves act as sluts. No need to crow about it.”
“Are you shaming the she wolves now? I thought they were fulfilling a basic need.”
“Yeah, but they don't have to act so excited about it. I had to tell the guard to burn all letters written to any member of our pack. Gosh! How desperate can you be.”
“At least, you get what I am talking about, and it is only going to get worse.”
“It is just one night right, t and then we head home.”
“One night. Don't forget to pull out.”
We don't want any inclined babies thrown our way.

“Welcome all, welcome to my humble pack!” Theo, the pompous ass crows as he stands before us like some king. “It is my honor to host the final ritual to our training. I am sure all of you are looking forward to it, so without further ado, have fun! And remember to…”
“Pull out!” The fellow wolves scream as they run into the midst of the giggling girls and I can't help but be appalled by it all.
“Can I go home now?” I whisper to Leo.
“No. You promised.”
“Did I? I ain't Denver saying the word “promise” now.”
“Levi… please. It is just one night. Or are you so eager to see what your Lycan is capable of if you don't sate it?”
“Ugh. Fine.”
“Good, now look alive. There is one headed your way.”
I look over to where his gaze is at and I see two ladies heading toward me.
“Levi Hall,” the red haired calls with an annoying trilling sound. “It is such an honor to finally meet you. I am Taylor and this is Tessa. We wrote to you while you were in training, but we never got a response back.
Oh, hell no.
Not one of those.
Without a word, I turn and head in the opposite direction, far away from them.
“Wait- Levu!”
“Nope. No. No. Never.”
She is one of those desperate ones, I want nothing to do with her.
I finally stop at what I consider a good distance from her and stop to stretch myself.
There has to be someone here that I find remotely acceptable.
Still stretching, my eyes catch sight of the glare of the sinking sun in a windowpane.
To be exact, it is the she wolf staring down at us with a blank look of disinterest that catches my eye.
“Huh, that is odd.”
I was under the impression that all females of the pack were mandated to be present.
So who is that rule breaker?
Curiosity piqued, I begin funding my way through the horny crowd, searching for the entrance to the mansion.
I manage to find it and I begin searching for the stairs.
She was at the top most part of the house, so maybe the attic?
“Levi!” Leo’s voice echoes in my mind. “Where are you? You are supposed to be mating? I thought you wanted to go home on time!”
Gosh
He can be such a nag sometimes.
“Hunting,” I respond through the link, still searching for the damn stairs.
Why are they hiding the staircase?!
“What? What are you talking about? Are you on a run right now? Now?!”
“No, you dunce. I am hunting. A woman.”
“Does that even make sense to you? All eligible females are right here, outside. Willing and ready to go. Why would you need to hunt anybody?”
“Not this one. She isn't outside. I saw her through a window.”
“So let me see if I got this right. You left all these pretty, willing ladies, to go in search of one who has probably locked herself in her room, and has no interest in the ritual?”
“Yes, got it on the first go.”
There is a beat of silence before he speaks up again.
“Did I offend you somehow? Why do you take delight in tormenting me like this?” he asks.
“First of all, not everything is about you. Secondly, tormenting you is fun, and third, I have to go, I caught a scent,” I say before ending the link.
With quiet footsteps, I follow the intoxicating, set, and innocent scent to where it is emanating from and I see a delectable same, climbing the - yea you got it- bloody staircase.
“Stop,” I order, surprising her and myself with the power in the tone.
I watch as she freezes at the command and yet her body is still posed to run, like she is contemplating it.
Interesting.
“Turn.”
She does, slowly, with her head bowed low.
I walk towards her until I am right in front of her before hooking a finger underneath her chin and raising her head to mine.
“Now, where has a little wolf like you been hiding?”
