Chapter 2

1330 Words
On the Opal Moon pack lands, a handsome man with strong masculine features and dark hair cut short to his head extends his hand out to the girl in the car, helping her out of the car in a chivalrous way. He brings her hand up to his mouth and kisses her knuckles ever so gently. The most noticeable thing about this man; forget his handsome face, forget his well defined and strong physique, forget his flawless tanned skin, it is his eyes that get noticed. The shining golden orbs seem to glitter in the sun as they are solely trained on the beautiful girl in front of him. Her mess of blonde hair is restrained in a plait running down her back. A small black headband keeping the rest off her small gorgeous face. Her green eyes glitter with joy as she looks around at the masses of people. She is so excited but she has a tiny glimmer of worry when she looks at the crowd. “Are you worried Ava?” Hunter asks, knowing full well she is, but he wants her to voice it so she can put that behind them. “Look at everyone else” Hunter doesn’t, he only keeps his eyes on her, but he knows what she is worried about. They have been Alpha and Luna for a total of two weeks, Ava has had her wolf for a total of a couple of months and he himself is not older. Compared to the others present, they look like little kids trying to play an adults game. They may look young but he is not worried in the slightest. He knows that together they have already been through more trials than most of the people here will face in their lifetime. They are a strong, completely in-sync force. Ava is strong and trains hard, she is of alpha blood so has more strength than a lot of the Luna’s present without trying. Hunter wraps a strong arm around Ava as he guides her away from the car and straight into the midst of the crowd. ‘Babe, don’t look at their age, just feel their aura’ Ava closes her eyes and feels around her, letting her wolfs senses come alive as she gauges those around her and Hunter continues. ‘Can you feel it? Can they even compare? Age doesn’t mean strength, wisdom, resilience or power. You think we are out oof place but maybe we are just perfectly in place’ Ava finally opens her eyes. Hunter is right, of course. No one in the circle around the two can compare. She smiles feeling a lot more confident, her spine a little straighter, but her side is melting into Hunter, her unbendable support. ‘Can you see dad?’ Hunter looks around and then shakes his head. He can’t see a single person he knows, not that he cares. The more time he spends with just Ava the better, in his view. The chatter from the crowd is incessant but everyone is facing forward toward a large stage. At the base of the steps to the stage a beautiful woman clutches a handsome man's hand tightly as she takes a deep breath in. The mans blue eyes gently look over the woman who looks like she is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. He wraps an arm around her and pulls her face directly into his strong chest, letting her breathe his scent, feeling her body relax in his arms. He nuzzles his nose into her dark brown hair. Words are not needed in the moment between the two, words are for later, words are for the others. These two know each other better than they know themselves. Words are not needed, they are just a pointless waste of oxygen. They just need each other and their scents for the moment. Finally, after completely calming her frazzled nerves, the woman pulls her face away from the mans chest and looks up at his blue eyes. Those eyes are the source of her peace. Axel looks at his beautiful mate, trying hard to remember that he can’t treat her as fragile today. She is only his strong partner and not the cr*cked piece of china that he can't help but treat her as. “Are you ready Jade?” Jade takes a deep breath in and nods solemnly. “As ready as I will ever be” Axel grips her hand and they ascend the steps in the same way they face any other task, together and strong. Jade wears a dark blue silk button-up shirt with light gray pants. Axel’s outfit is the opposite; dark blue bottoms and light gray shirt, they look united. They look like the force to be reckoned with that they are. Couples outfits are not needed for the two to appear as a united front but it doesn't hurt the illusion. Axel looks around at everyone that is present on their land, on Opal Moon land. No one has done anything like this before, but they have never been afraid of standing out or being the first to do anything. Jade squeezes his hand tight in silent solidarity and support. Axel clears his throat, letting his aura flow. They are young to be in such a commanding position, so they don’t want anyone to stir up trouble or to question their authority. Jade is the same. Between the two, their auras are all consuming, causing the wolves in the front rows knees to tremble as the urge to bow to the two extremely powerful wolves nearly overwhelms them. Axel clears his throat and his booming voice sounds over the chattering of the crowd. "Is this everyone?" The crowd shushes to pin drop silence as they all concentrate on the two on the stage. Everyone got the invites, they know who these two are, they may have even heard rumors about the two, but no one knows what is fact and what is fiction. Curiosity about the two is peaked when all eyes land on the two relatively young wolves that manage to wield such authority. But now these two aren’t the most important thing, the question that is on the forefront of every ones mind is the reason for a gathering of such magnitude and at such short notice. Down in the crowd are two wolves, a dark haired brown eyed girl rubs gentle calming circles on her mates chest. The man is easy to get agitated in the face of other powerful beings, so this is just about his worst nightmare. The only thing that would trump this is to lose his precious mate. He pulls her shoulder closer to his chest, so tight that she he is trying to directly press her into his flesh. He closes his green eyes and breathes his mates sweet scent and enjoys the gentle caress of her hand on his chest. Alina is just wondering what on earth she was exactly thinking bringing him into the dead centre of this massive crowd of alphas. She is sure she must have received a bit of brain damage on the trip over to think that was a good idea. She looks around but can’t see a good route of retreat to the outer border of the crowd. She looks up at the dark stubbled chin on the chiseled jaw of her handsome mate. He feels her brown eyes looking at him, his green eyes flick open as he stares back at her. ‘Phoenix, are you alright here?’ ‘As long as you are beside me, I am fine. As soon as you are not, I may go on a rampage’ Alina smiles and kisses his chin. ‘I guess I better stay by your side then’ ‘Always and forever’ Alina looks toward the stage as her hand continues the calming circles, never pausing for a single moment.
