What a Monday, Mira thought as she crashed into the sofa. She was holding a bottle of milk, and wearing a crop top and her bum shots. “What was I thinking…” she scoffed as she reviewed the day events in her head. The audacity… the courage, at least it was worth the experience. She had left the company immediately after, giving her CV to Alex, and hoping he'd reach out with good news. She didn't expect anything though… because really, no one wanted to employ an undergraduate in companies this days. “Urgh,” she growled as she rolled over, feeling uncomfortable in her previous position. She anticipated her uncle's return. She was just going to work in his company, at least, she was certain she'd get a job, or he could get a job for her. But she didn't want to work with her uncle… she wanted her independence. “There's not much of choice now I guess” she thought to herself.
‘Grngggggg’ her phone rang, jolting her back to reality. She stretched her hang lazily to the chairs edge, grabbing her phone from where she had kept it. It was Mira, her best friend.
“Hello,” Mia said, picking the call. “What's up girllll, you good?” Mira said, it seemed like she was shouting at the top of her voice. “Yeah, kinda, just had somethings to go about…” Mia muttered, uninterested. “Looks like your interview didn't go well,” Mira said, still shouting, but with a sense of pity this time. Mia had briefed her the day before, about everything that happened. She also informed her about her plans for source for a job outside her uncle's working place, in order to be independent.
“Interview” Mia scoffed, remembering how the day had went. “There wasn't much of an interview, seeing that I was ‘under qualified’”... Imitating Alex’s, manner of speaking. “Well at least you tried…” Mira said, knowing the kind of friend she had. She knew Mia had invested all her hope into this one escapade, even if it was glaring from the beginning that it wouldn't be successful. “Well, I just called to brief you on things you missed in school today. We didn't have most of our classes, but Dr Jane came, gave us some notes and did some expalnations. Oh yea, she also mentioned that we'd be having her test by 9:00AM tomorrow morning.” “What!!!!” It was Mia’s turn to shout now, could this day get any more worse… she thought to herself. “Don't worry, you'll be fine, I've forwarded the notes and some voice recording of her explanations to you, on w******p, study them, and you should be fine.” Mira said, calming her down a bit. “Awww, thanks girl, you're the best. I'll get to it now, thanks, gotta go… bye.” Mia said, ending the call. “Oh good…” she bellowed after ending the call. Now she had a test to be bothered about!!
Everyone knew Dr Jane, at least in their class. She was one of the most intelligent lecturers, and she was beautiful too, but it wasn't always noticed as she was also by far the strictest. She rushed to w******p, skimming through the notes Mira had sent. “I'd better get to reading it now” she muttered under her breath, getting up from the chair and entering her room.
Coming out about 3 hours later, she could hear Uncle Ken's voice in the sitting room. It looked like he was talking with someone, but she couldn't hear clearly what they were saying. “Oh, okay, thanks, I'll be there…” Uncle Ken answered, as Mia strolled into the sitting room. “Who was that?” she asked, sitting down. “Oh, just someone from the factory… wanted me around very early tomorrow morning, for some extra tip.” He answered, focusing his eyes on the phone in his hand. “Oh, okay…” she muttered, barely audibly, then added “I guess I would be applying for a job with your factory…”
