“…Have a meeting scheduled with the chairman of fintech cooperation. And make sure to get those prototypes and the remaining designs to the technical unit. I want operational equipments in a week’s time” Max Roberts thundered, dishing out information in his unique style. Max had graduated school few years back, and he had been all about enjoying life. He came from a pretty wealthy family, and so he had almost anything he wanted, as long as he requested for it. His father Bruce Roberts, was diagnosed of cancer about 2 years ago, and the incident served as a turning point in Max’s life. He was dejected, but he now had to take responsibility. Shortly after he was diagnosed, Bruce stepped down from being CEO, and handed over the company to his best friend, Gary. Max had been under him, learning the pros and cons of management, while he headed the company. A year later, Gary retired, handing over power to Max. Max’s character slowly changed over the years. Going from a jovial fun loving man, to a hard wired business CEO who hardly ever smiled. He was friendly, but nothing more.
Gary was no longer CEO, but he still controlled a great deal of the company. He was a personal adviser to Max, and was also in charge of hiring and dismissing workers. Being a very good friend of Bruce, and more like an uncle to Max, he was well revered in the company premises. He did a wonderful job with organization of staffs, and seeing to their effectiveness, such that no one entered or exited the company without him knowing.
Waking up on Monday mornings were usually a pain to Mia. She often hoped the weekend wouldn’t end, as it gave her the peace and space she needed. On weekends she would remain indoors, read a story book or watch a movie, and just while away time. The weekends were her savior from the hustle bustle of classes, running around to submit assignments, and the mental stress that came along with it.
This particular Monday though, was somewhat different from the rest. Yawning slightly as she stretched her hands over her head to put off the buzzing alarm, she mentally went over the events of the previous weekend. Groaning in frustration as she moved her hand about, scanning the top of her bed with it as she now wanted more than ever to put of the alarm that had become a disturbance. “Geez…” she gasped between heaves, as she remembered… TODAY WAS HER INTERVIEW!!! Springing up from the bed, she battled with the piece of blanket that had determined to hold on to her. She dashed into the bathroom, picking up her brush and the toothpaste. She took her bath next, playing with the water for a while, watching it take its natural course through her body. She wasn’t exactly one to care about how she dressed or what to put on, but she had taken out time to sort her dressing out more intentionally. Of course, who would want to go to an interview looking non challant. Her uncle had tried, although in vain to convince her to work in the same company with him, as he felt it would be safer, and he’ll be able to monitor her well, but she had turned down his offer with a “NO” that passed the exact message she wanted to pass across. Her mind was made up, and he knew better than to try to convince her. Taking one last look at herself in the mirror, a smile crept to her face, which slowly turned to a smirk as she keenly observed her body. Trailing her curves with her hands, she made some poses to the mirror, while she noticed how her body moved. She marched out of her room with confidence, determined to take on the day.
Staring at the behemoth of a building, Mia looked on in awe at the structure before her. This was Maxis cooperation headquarters. It was a gigantic building of over 39 stories, with its top floor disappearing into the clouds. Even passerby would stop to look at the structure before continuing their journey to wherever they were going. She had heard a lot of people talk about how the building looked like, and it was rumored to be even more stunning on the inside. Well, at least now she’d get to see it herself now. Sucking in a deep breath, she let all the fear and anxiety disappear as she exhaled, marching toward the entrance.
