The silence in Adrian’s office was suffocating.
The massive conference table before him was covered with reports, security briefings, and photographs.
Adrian stared at them with cold, unreadable eyes.
It had been more than a week since Eleanor's kidnapping.
More than a week since he discovered the ledger had vanished.
And days since Lucien had insisted he knew nothing about it.
A knock echoed through the room.
“Enter.”
Victor stepped inside, carrying a tablet. His expression alone told Adrian he wasn’t bringing good news.
“The board meeting ended an hour ago.”
Adrian didn’t look up.
“And?”
“Three directors have begun liquidating portions of their shares.”
He continued.
“They claim it’s routine portfolio management.”
