"Mom please. Relax. Tell me what happened," Karey calmly asks though her thudding heart betrays her. She hears static followed by a loud silence before a different voice echos through the phone, "Dad? Dad is it you?" At the sound of her father some of her fears lessens. She listens to every of his words but as he continues talking Karey's heart grows heavy. She couldn't bear the news being delivered to her.
The call ends but Karey still holds the phone to her ear. She was shaken by the news. Her mind replaying her father's words over and over. Kane was in the hospital, he had been attacked while leaving his apartment. He wasn't badly hurt but Karey wouldn't settle for that assurance. She needed to see Kane for herself in order
