Chapter 10 Kayden takes a seat beside me on the bench. He set his phone on the bed and turned to me “I know Daniel is dangerous and I understand that he would do everything, using his power to make sure that we would be safe, but I promise you that I would not let that happen. I would fight anyone and everyone including myself, to keep a smile on your face” I smiled back as I took his hands “Okay,” I wished. He heaved a sigh and looked me in the eye and said. “Stefan would be coming to visit us." “Stefan? Daniel's right-hand man? What is he coming here for?” I asked. He shrugged. “He is going to snitch his plans to me. Daniel trusts him; his trust is worth money. The problem with these people is that they hardly live long. See you at the office." He walked away before I could reply to him. I changed my dressing to a much more casual one. A tank top and joggers. I walked towards the office, and there Stefan was, sitting. “Hello, Aemelia," he said with a smile. Normally I would be irritated because I can swear that Daniel trusts this man a lot, but in the end, it is to my advantageI take a seat beside Kayden, igniting his greeting, “So what is he up to again?” Kayden asked. “He is looking for weakness, people to use against you. Like a weak link. He's antsy to know who you stayed with all these years, who Gabrile stayed with all these years. “Did you tell him?” Kayden asked Stefan shook his head. “No. I did not. I kept my side of the bargain." I cleared my throat. “And who did you stay with?” “Gabriel?” Kayden answered. “And who did Gabriel stay with?” “The Godfather. The one Ashley seduced and killed." Oh wow. Throughout the remaining conversation, they stayed mute watching them as they all planned about what would happen and what would not happen. Then Kayhdne got a text message. The colour of his face changed. He stood up almost immediately. "Stefan, stay here. I will go and talk to Gabriel. Tell him what I told you to tell him." Stefan smiled. “Okay, your house is big enough, but you. would pay me extra. For every secret I sell, there should be an extra payment. Kayden opens his drawer and throws some grand at me. He grabbed my hands and walked into the car, started the car, and zoomed off without saying a word. "Kayden, where are we going to?” I asked. “A mile away from our house. To our new house” I sat upright, my brain freezing as it tried to understand what was happening. “What do you mean, a new house? What happened to our old house?” I asked, "And why did you leave Stefan there?" He ignored me. "Kayden, answer me!” I snapped. His car came to a screeching halt. He stopped and looked me in the eye. “Ashley has set a bomb in our house. My men informed me, and I needed you to be out of there!” He snaps and closes the door, banging it on my face. The silence that followed after he left felt so heavy, like a very heavy wet blanket on a small child. It was suffocating. I ran my hands through my hair, removing my necklace bracket. Stefan was going to die. In that house. This was someone I knew. Someone who was talking to us a minute ago. I came out of the car and stomped to where he was, spending time on the phone. “Are you seriously going to let him die? He is working for you! Why would you kill him? I thought people who kill kill for a reason and not for sport. Let him live; he has a mother, Kayden, and a girlfriend who might be pregnant with his child!” I screamed at the top of my voice. His eyes met mine. “What did you think? That I would sit with Daniel and Ashley at a round table and delegate and drink wine. One killed my family; the other one killed my godmother. I am sorry to break it to you, Amelia. But I never said I was a calm man. I told you point-blank in the room that I am dangerous!” He took a step closer, gritting his teeth. “So yes, Amy, sometimes I kill for a spot." And just like that, he walked past me. Leaving me standing there, looking dazed. Nice. Life really played its cards on me. I moved from a cheater to a murderer. To make things worse, rain started falling, pouring all over me. I let it happen, did not move, and did not care if I was hurt or not. If I were to catch a cold or not I just wanted it to wash everything away. To wash me away from this world. From everything. My eyes were getting blurry, the rain making my eyelids heavy. Kayden stopped at my front, umbrella in his hands. “Let's get inside; you would catch a cold." I laughed looking at him. “I am already cold. I am as good as dead." “You are not dead, Amelia. The last thing I would want is for you to die." He oiled off his coat and used it to cover me and then led me to the same car. I sat there, cold, stiff, and unable to move. We rejoined there for thirty minutes before someone hit his window. They gave him a box; it had a head, a burnt head, in it. He nodded and gave it back to them. “Send it to Daniel and Ashley. Tell them the game. A house for a head” I looked at him, praying that it would not be what I thought. "What was in that box?" I asked quietly. “Nothing” I turned to him. "Just tell me who it is." He turned to look at me. “Stefan. Stefan’s head." And with that, I burst into tears.
