First Encounter

Lina stood in front of the luxury apartment building. Her hands trembled, even though the night air felt cool against her face. Streetlights reflected long shadows on the wet asphalt from the afternoon rain. This was the first time she would step directly into Adrian Walker’s world — a world far from her simple home, far from her ordinary life. Taking a deep breath, Lina pressed the apartment doorbell. A few seconds later, the door opened. Adrian stood there, just as neat, just as serious as she had always imagined. His black suit fit perfectly, his hair impeccably styled, and his gaze… it pierced straight to the core of her heart. “Miss Lina,” Adrian greeted, his voice low but clear. “Please, come in.” Lina swallowed hard, her steps hesitant but forward. The apartment was spacious, modern, with soft lighting highlighting every lavish corner. Everything felt both foreign and intimidating. Adrian closed the door behind her and switched on the living room lights. Lina observed every detail: expensive furniture, abstract paintings, bookshelves filled with both classic and modern works. Everything spoke of one thing — power, control, and Adrian’s perfection. “Please, have a seat,” he said, pointing to a plush sofa. Lina sat, keeping her distance. Her heart raced. She could feel Adrian’s strong aura, and at the same time, there was a curiosity she couldn’t easily explain. “As we agreed through messages,” Adrian began, “this is our marriage contract. There are a few basic rules we must follow.” Lina straightened her back, trying to stay calm even though her nervousness was obvious. “First, during this one-year contract, we must present ourselves as a legitimate couple in public. Second, personal and emotional matters… we must keep boundaries. Third, any financial or family decisions related to this contract remain under my supervision.” Lina listened. Each word felt heavy, pressing down on her as if the room had suddenly shrunk. She wanted to refuse, to turn and run, but she knew her heart wouldn’t allow her to see her father suffer. “Is… there anything else I need to know?” Lina asked softly. Adrian stared at her for a long moment. His gaze was so intense, it felt as if he could see into her mind. “Yes,” he finally said. “This isn’t just about family or money. It’s also about… us.” Lina swallowed. That word, so simple, sparked warmth and fear in her chest at the same time. “Us?” He nodded, still serious. “During this contract, every interaction, every gesture, will have consequences. Emotions cannot be ignored. You may feel… confused, frustrated, or even more than that.” Lina averted her eyes, staring out the window at the city lights twinkling below. Her heart was in turmoil — scared, anxious, but there was a strange feeling she couldn’t explain. “And if I break the rules?” she asked softly. Adrian smiled faintly, just a glimpse, but enough to make her heart pound. “We’ll handle it… through discussion.” Lina swallowed, feeling her neck stiffen. She wanted to run, but her body remained rooted in place. There was something in Adrian’s gaze that kept her there, as if a magnet drew her in, even though she knew this was wrong. They sat in silence for a few moments, the atmosphere tense yet charged with emotional electricity. Every small movement — hands, eyes, even breaths — felt significant. “Now,” Adrian finally said, standing and approaching her, “you will stay here for the first few days. It’s part of the agreement.” Lina stood, startled, but tried to remain composed. “Here?” Adrian nodded. “You need to adjust to my environment and lifestyle. This ensures everything runs smoothly.” Her heart raced. Living in this man’s apartment, under the same roof with him… it felt so… intimate, so personal. Yet she knew this was the only path forward. That night, Lina sat in the room prepared for her. The large window offered a view of the sparkling city, but inside her heart, it was dark and anxious. She didn’t know what tomorrow would bring, didn’t know how to face the man who could turn her life upside down with a single decision. But one thing was clear: Lina’s world had changed. And Adrian Walker, the cold and controlling man, had entered her life — officially, permanently for one year, and perhaps more than she realized… emotionally.
