Chapter 7

Logan's expression turned serious, and he leaned in, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "Lily, I want to explain something to you. My life...it's been complicated from the very beginning, and even now, I'm not sure what to do. But after thinking about everything, I've come to realize that you're my last hope." Lily's eyes narrowed slightly, confusion etched on her face. But Logan continued, his words spilling out in a rush. "What happened this afternoon...it's not true. It's fake. I know I didn't plan it with you earlier, but please, from now on, I want you to act as my girlfriend. In front of my mother, in front of anyone...let's just go along with it, okay?" Lily's expression changed from confusion to surprise, and she opened her mouth to speak. But Logan held up a hand, forestalling her. "Please, Lily, don't say 'I don't understand.' Just...let's do this, okay? I'll explain everything later. For now, let's just pretend that we're dating. Can you do that for me?" Lily's expression turned firm, and she shook her head. "No, it can't be possible. I'm sorry, it can't work." Logan's face fell, but he didn't give up. He leaned in, his eyes pleading. "I understand this might seem like I'm forcing it on you, but please, think about it. We can make it work. Let's make it work." Lily's expression remained resolute. "I don't need to think about it. It can't work, sir. No, sir." Lil, and she stood up, her movements crisp. "I'll bring your dinner now, sir." Logan's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't respond. Lily turned and walked away, leaving Logan looking perplexed. As soon as Lily left the room, Logan's eyes dropped to his palm, where he had absent-mindedly set his phone. He stared at it, his mind racing. "What was all this?" he muttered to himself. "What's really going on?" Logan's eyes scanned the room, as if searching for answers. But there were none. He was left with only questions, and a growing sense of unease. The next day, after Logan had left for work, Lily started cleaning the house. She prepared everything, making sure the mansion was spotless. After finishing her chores, Lily decided to pay a visit to her mom. She left the house and walked some distance from Logan's mansion. As she walked, she heard her name being called. "Lily!" The voice was familiar, and it caught her off guard. She turned back to see Joel smiling at her from the front of a house. The house was beautiful and unique, with a stunning garden. Lily's face broke into a smile as she smiled back at Joel. "Hey, Joel," she said, feeling a sense of warmth at seeing him. Lily hesitated for a moment before responding. "Actually, I want to visit someone." Joel smiled, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Can I see you for a minute or two?" he asked, his voice low and persuasive. Lily nodded, and Joel turned to walk back to the mansion. Lily followed him, and as they entered the mansion, she couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. The interior of the mansion was stunning, with neatly furnished rooms that seemed to glow with warmth. The decor was elegant, with a mix of modern and classic pieces that seemed to blend seamlessly together. As they walked through the mansion, Lily couldn't help but notice the similarities between Joel's taste and Logan's. It was as if they shared the same sense of style, the same appreciation for beauty and elegance. Joel led Lily to a cozy sitting room, with plush couches and a crackling fireplace. He gestured for her to sit down, and Lily sank into the soft cushions, feeling a sense of relaxation wash over her. Joel sat down beside her, a smile still playing on his lips. "Oh, do you own this place?" Lily asked, her eyes scanning the room. Joel nodded, his smile growing wider. "Yes, this is my house." Lily's eyes widened in surprise. "I thought as much....... with the way you frequently visit your friend. I don't know it's this close anyway." Joel's face broke into a smile. "He frequently visit me too, yeah? He was here yesterday." Joel's expression turned serious, and he leaned forward. "What do you like? What would you like to drink ?" Lily shook her head. "No, don't bother. I will leave soon. " Joel nodded, his expression somber. "Alright...well, back to why I wanted to see you. I want to talk about what happened yesterday. Logan told me about it, so I was thinking I should have a discussion with you." Lily shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "Okay, so..." Joel's voice was low and serious. "You know, Logan himself did not plan it, but it happened to go that way. Now, what do you think about everything that happened yesterday?" Lily's expression was thoughtful, but she shook her head. "Actually, I didn't think of anything at all. Since he told you about it, what do you think of it yourself?" Joel's eyes narrowed slightly. "You know, I.....as for me, I don't know. I couldn't think of anything myself, so I told Logan that maybe if I had a discussion with you, maybe we could come up with something." Joel took a deep breath before continuing. "Logan's life is really complicated. I've known him since we were kids, and his life has always been filled with ups and downs. His mom wants him to get married to someone he doesn't like, and she thinks he has no one he loves. So, he came up with the idea that he's going to pretend to love you." Lily's eyes widened slightly, but she remained silent. Joel's voice took on a sincere tone. "I know this will sound foolish, but I really think you're the only one he can actually rely on. What do you think, Lily? You don't know much about him, but...Lily, do this for Logan, and do this for me. You're also my friend, like I told you the other day. Do this for me as a friend."
