Lily eyes flashed with determination as she broke free from Logan's grasp. She quickly exited the room, leaving Logan and his mother, Evelyn, staring at each other in shock.
Evelyn's face was a mix of confusion and anger. She turned to Logan, her voice stern.
"What just happened here? Are you really telling me the truth, Logan?" she demanded.
Logan stood his ground, his eyes locked on his mother's. "Yes, Mom, that's the truth. I have feelings for Lily."
Evelyn's expression changed from shock to concern. "Are you okay? It's not even a week since she became your maid. I thought you insisted you didn't want a maid."
Logan took a deep breath. "I know it sounds crazy, but I've already developed strong feelings for Lily. I know it's fast, but I couldn't help how I feel."
Evelyn's eyes narrowed. "Logan, you're not thinking clearly. You're confessing your love for a woman you barely know. A maid, no less!"
Logan's voice remained firm. "I understand it's unconventional, but my feelings are genuine. I've never felt this way before."
The tension between them was palpable, the air thick with unspoken words.
Just then, Evelyn stood up angrily, her face flushed with indignation. She stormed out of the living room, determined to confront Lily.
As she walked down the hallway, she saw Lily emerging from the bathroom. Lily quickly ran to meet her, sensing that something was amiss.
Evelyn's voice was cold and detached. "I really hope what happened in the living room isn't true. I believe it's not true."
She glared at Lily, her eyes piercing. "Tell me, what's going on between you and Logan?"
Lily's eyes widened, and she took a step back, trying to compose herself. "Ah, actually, ma'am, it's not true. There's nothing between us. It really shocked me too."
Evelyn raised an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "Is that so? You're telling me that Logan's confession meant nothing?"
Lily shook her head vigorously. "Yes, ma'am, that's the truth. There's nothing between us at all."
Evelyn's face softened slightly, and she smiled wryly. "I know what that boy is getting at. He's trying to play a quick one on me."
She waved her hand dismissively. "Okay, there's no need to discuss this further. You can just get back to work."
With that, Evelyn turned and walked away, leaving Lily looking relieved but also a bit uncertain.
As Evelyn disappeared around the corner, Lily let out a sigh and returned to her duties, her mind racing with thoughts about Logan and their complicated situation.
As Evelyn entered the living room, she spotted Logan sitting on the couch. Without saying a word, she picked up her bag and headed towards the door.
Logan looked up, surprised by Evelyn's sudden departure. "Mom, you're leaving quite early," he said, getting up from the couch. "Shouldn't you wait a bit?"
However, Evelyn didn't respond. She didn't even acknowledge Logan's words. She simply opened the door and walked out, leaving Logan looking concerned and confused.
Logan stood there for a moment, wondering what had triggered his mother's sudden departure. He shrugged his shoulders.
After about four minutes after Evelyn's abrupt departure, Logan stood up from the couch, his eyes fixed on the door. He seemed lost in thought, pondering what had just transpired.
Without a word, Logan picked up his car keys from the coffee table and headed towards the door. He opened it and stepped outside, closing it behind him.
Logan walked towards his car, parked in the driveway. He got in, started the engine, and began to drive away from the mansion.
Lily sat down on her bed, picking up her phone to call her sister Jessica. After a few rings, Jessica answered.
"Hey, Lily! How are you?" Jessica asked, her voice warm and cheerful.
"I'm fine, Jess. How's Mom?" Lily replied, concern etched in her voice.
"She's feeling better, thanks for asking. But she's been asking about you nonstop. She wants to see you, Lily," Jessica said, a hint of a smile in her tone.
"Really? What does she say?" Lily asked, curiosity piqued.
"She says she wants to see you. She's been mentioning your name even in her sleep. You should come visit her, Lily. It would mean a lot to her," Jessica urged.
"I'd like to, Jess, but...I don't know when I can make it. I'm really busy with work, and it's not easy to take time off," Lily explained, sounding apologetic.
"I understand, Lily, but please try to find some time. Mom would love to see you. Even if it's just for a few minutes, it would make her happy," Jessica said, her voice gentle but persuasive.
"I'll try, Jess. I promise. As soon as I can, I'll come visit Mom," Lily vowed.
"Alright, Lily."
"Take care, and take care of Mom too. Bye," Jessica said, before ending the call.
Lily had spent hours preparing dinner, and she was still waiting for Logan's arrival. As the minutes ticked by, she began to feel a mix of concern and annoyance. Some minutes later, he walked into the dining room
"Welcome, sir. I've been waiting for you. Dinner is ready," Lily said, trying to sound cheerful.
Logan didn't respond. Instead, he walked faster, his long strides eating up the distance. He took a seat at the dinner table, his eyes fixed on Lily.
"Sir, is everything okay?" Lily asked, feeling a sense of unease.
Logan's expression remained unreadable. "Lily, I want to explain something to you. I want you to understand me very well. What happened between us this afternoon... It's a game, actually. I know I didn't plan it with you, but from now on, I want you to act as...my girlfriend."
Lily's eyes widened in alarm. "I don't understand what you're saying, sir."
Logan's expression remained serious. "I know it sounds funny, but please, just go along with it. In front of my mother, in front of anyone...act as if we're dating. Can you do that for me?" He asked.
