After getting down from the train, we walked toward the parking area outside the station to catch an auto.
There were many autos standing in a line. The drivers were loudly calling out—
“Katni Bypass…!”
“Madhu Nagar… come to Madhu Nagar…!”
Just then, Nurse Gudiya said,
“Alright, I’m going to Madhu Nagar. I live there in a rented room. I’ll leave from here now. Bye, hope we meet again sometime.”
Hearing this, Ankita quickly said,
“Okay, but please give us your number. If we can’t meet nearby, at least we can talk on the phone.”
Priyanshi also said,
“Yes, that’s right. You should share your number.”
Gudiya smiled and said,
“Of course, you can note down my number.”
Hearing this, my sister Ankita immediately took out her phone and saved Gudiya’s number.
Then we all said goodbye to each other.
Gudiya sat in an auto going toward Madhu Nagar and left, while the three of us—me, Priyanshi, and Ankita—took another auto toward the hospital.
After reaching the hospital, we first went to the staff room. A nurse was sitting there.
I asked her,
“Ma’am, which room is my mother in?”
The nurse looked at us and asked,
“Who are you to her?”
I replied,
“I am her son.”
The nurse said,
“Alright sir, can you show your Aadhaar card?”
I immediately took out my Aadhaar card and gave it to her,
“Yes, here it is.”
After checking it, the nurse said,
“Okay sir, she is in Room No. 9. You can go there.”
Ankita said,
“Come on brother, what are we waiting for now?”
I said,
“Yes, let’s go.”
When we reached near Room No. 9, we saw Dad standing outside, as if he had been waiting for us.
Seeing us, he said,
“Oh son, you all arrived safely, right? There was no problem, was there?”
I said,
“No, Dad, we came safely. You tell me, how is Mom?”
Dad, looking a bit sad, said,
“She is inside on the bed. The doctor will come shortly, and she will be given blood.”
I said,
“Dad, we have already arranged the blood.”
Just then, Dad noticed Priyanshi and asked,
“Who is this, beta?”
Ankita said,
“Dad, she is my friend Priyanshi.”
Priyanshi greeted him with folded hands,
“Namaste, Uncle… how is Aunty?”
Dad said,
“Just praying that she gets well soon.”
Just then, a nurse hurriedly came and said,
“Have you arranged the blood or not? Time is very limited—we need to transfuse immediately.”
I said,
“Yes, the arrangement is done.”
At that moment, Priyanshi stepped forward and said,
“Ma’am, I can donate blood… one unit.”
Hearing this, Dad got worried,
“Oh no, beta! You will donate blood? If something happens to you, we won’t be able to forgive ourselves.”
Priyanshi smiled and said,
“No, Uncle, nothing will happen to me. I have all your blessings.”
I said,
“Priyanshi, you donate half a unit… and I’ll give the other half.”
Priyanshi said,
“But your blood group is different, right?”
I explained,
“Yes, but I’ll deposit my blood in the blood bank and take matching blood in exchange. Giving a full unit at once can be a bit risky, so we’ll both contribute.”
The nurse said,
“You can talk later, first come quickly.”
Then Priyanshi and I went to the blood donation room.
There, our blood was taken.
Meanwhile, Dad and Ankita were standing outside. There were tears in their eyes, but they were trying to hide them after seeing us.
Ankita quietly went to the balcony and started praying to God,
“Oh God, please make Mom recover soon…”
After some time, when our blood was taken, we started feeling a little weak.
Dad brought pomegranate juice for us and said,
“Here, drink this… you’ll regain strength.”
We drank the juice and rested for a while.
Meanwhile, Mom was slowly being given the blood…
The whole atmosphere was calm, but in our hearts, both fear and hope were present together.
After the blood transfusion was completed, after some time, Mom slowly started regaining consciousness.
As soon as we heard this, we became eager to meet her, but the doctor stopped us from going inside immediately.
The doctor said,
“Let the patient rest for now. You can meet her after some time.”
Meanwhile, because of the blood donation, the doctor strictly instructed Priyanshi and me,
“You both should not walk around for the next 2–3 hours. Rest is necessary.”
So, we were sent to a room to rest.
Priyanshi and I lay down on two beds placed side by side in the same room.
There was slight weakness in the body, but also a sense of peace in the heart—
that we were able to do something for Mom on time.
There was a soft silence in the room…
only the sound of our heartbeats and the movement of the hospital outside could be heard.
I was quietly looking at the ceiling,
and Priyanshi also seemed lost in her own thoughts…
When Priyanshi realized that I was lying on the bed next to her,
she slowly looked at me and asked,
“Are you okay?”
I smiled lightly and said,
“If you’re okay, then I’m okay too.”
Priyanshi immediately said,
“Oh, silly! I’m perfectly fine.”
Just then, Ankita entered the room.
Excitedly, she said,
“Brother! Mom has regained consciousness… now there’s nothing to worry about.”
Hearing this, relief clearly appeared on our faces.
Ankita came closer and sat beside Priyanshi, gently pressing her head.
Priyanshi immediately stopped her and said,
“Oh no! I’m fine… why are you worrying?”
Then she smiled and said,
“You should press your brother’s head, he needs it more.”
I laughed and said,
“Hey, I’m fine too!”
Ankita said,
“No brother, today both of you are heroes… you deserve this care.”
The three of us smiled softly.
Then Ankita said,
“Come on now… Mom must be waiting.”
We slowly got up…
and started walking toward Mom’s room to meet her.
