I will come quietly

As soon as we entered the room, I said excitedly, “Hey Ankita! Look… Mom has regained consciousness!” Ankita happily said, “Yes, brother… now Mom is fine.” The three of us immediately went and sat beside Mom. Ankita started pressing Mom’s feet, and Priyanshi gently began applying oil to her head. Mom said, “Oh dear, leave it… I’m fine now, don’t apply oil.” Priyanshi smiled and said, “No, Aunty… you’re not fully fine yet. You just take rest.” Mom again said, “Oh dear, leave it… Ankita will do it. It doesn’t feel right when you do it.” Priyanshi laughed softly and said, “Why, Aunty? Am I not like your daughter… or do you consider me an outsider?” Mom immediately replied, “Oh no, no… you are just like my daughter.” Hearing all this, I was smiling quietly to myself. Mom noticed me and said, “Hey, you useless boy! Why are you smiling to yourself?” Hearing this, Priyanshi burst into laughter. Ankita also joked, “Yes, how are you, our useless brother?” I laughed and said, “Hey witch! I’ll cut your braid.” We all started laughing. Priyanshi smiled and said, “You two fight a lot… Aunty, you should scold them a little, only then they’ll सुधरेंगे.” Mom said, “We’ll get him married, then he’ll improve on his own.” Hearing this, Priyanshi smiled shyly and said, “Yes, absolutely…” After some time, we called Dad and made him sit with Mom, and the three of us went out to the market. It was already evening, so we decided to eat outside and pack food for Mom and Dad as well. The three of us were walking together— Priyanshi was holding my hand, and Ankita was holding Priyanshi’s hand. Dad had seen all this from the window… We were so lost in our own conversation that we couldn’t hear anything around us. We were walking on the road, but our eyes were only on each other… After a while, Priyanshi’s father called. She answered, “Hello Dad, I’m fine… I’m at the market right now.” He said, “Okay dear, call me when you reach home.” Priyanshi said, “Alright Dad, I’ll talk later… bye.” She then cut the call. After that, we reached a small roadside hotel (stall). Looking around, Priyanshi said, “Ankita, look… they’re making baati-chokha here! I’ll definitely eat baati-chokha… will you guys eat too?” Ankita immediately said, “Yes! Baati-chokha here is very famous. People come from far away to eat it… even though it’s just a small stall.” Priyanshi said happily, “Then let’s sit here and eat today… look how hot and fresh the baatis are!” Then she looked at me mischievously and said, “What’s the matter? Isn’t your mouth watering?” I smiled and said, “No, silly! I eat it often, so I don’t get that excited anymore.” Priyanshi quickly said, “Oh really? So you think I don’t eat it?” I laughed and said, “No, no… you’re misunderstanding. You eat, I’ll eat too.” Seeing all this, Ankita smiled and said, “Listen, bhabhi… don’t fall for my brother’s words, he just pretends like this.” Hearing this, I was shocked, “Hey! What are you saying?” Priyanshi blushed slightly and said, “Ankita… be quiet!” Ankita laughed, “Why? I’m just telling the truth…” The three of us laughed and sat at the stall. Within a short time, hot baati, chokha, and the aroma of ghee were served in front of us… We started eating— and with every bite, our tiredness slowly began to fade away… But the real taste of that evening wasn’t just in the food… it was in the bond that was growing between the three of us… Talking like this, a lot of time passed. We had gone to the market around 7 PM, and when we returned, it was already 9 PM. I said a bit nervously, “Let’s go quickly… we’re quite late, otherwise Dad will scold us.” Ankita laughed and said, “Dad will scold you, brother… not us! You’ll be the one listening to him.” Priyanshi also smiled and said, “Yes, Ankita is right…” Laughing, we all started walking back toward the hospital. Soon, we reached the hospital. I placed the food and said, “Here Dad, you eat first… Mom, you should also eat something.” Priyanshi added, “Yes, Uncle… you all should eat. It’s already quite late.” Saying this, Priyanshi opened the food and started serving everyone. Just then, after a few moments, a nurse entered the room and asked Mom, “How are you feeling now?” As soon as I looked at her, I was a bit surprised, “Oh… you here?” That nurse was none other than Gudiya. Gudiya smiled and said, “Oh, you all? What are you doing here?” I said, “She is my mother… she is unwell, so we are here in the hospital.” Gudiya immediately became serious and said, “Oh… don’t worry. Now that I’m here, you don’t need to worry. I’ll take good care of your mother and make sure she recovers soon.” Hearing this, we felt a bit relieved. Dad looked at Gudiya and asked, “Daughter, have you met my children before?” Gudiya smiled and said, “Yes, Uncle… we met in the train just two days ago.” After that, Gudiya checked Mom’s BP and said, “Alright, I’ll leave now… I have to check other patients as well.” I said, “Okay… come again when you have time, we’ll sit and talk.” Gudiya smiled slightly and left. After some time, Dad finished eating and signaled me to come, “Son, come here for a moment… I need to talk to you.” I said, “Yes Dad, coming.” We both moved a little away so that Ankita and Priyanshi couldn’t hear us. Dad said softly, “Tell me honestly… that girl (Priyanshi) likes you, right? And you like her too?” I got a little nervous and said, “No Dad… nothing like that for now. If something happens, I’ll tell you myself.” Dad said seriously, “Don’t hide it from me… tell me the truth. Otherwise, I’ll talk to her father myself.” I quickly said, “No Dad! Please don’t do that… I’ll tell you everything when we get home.” Dad looked at me for a moment, then smiled slightly. I came back and sat near Mom. Just then, Ankita mischievously said, “See, Mom… he went and whispered something to Dad. I’m sure he was complaining about me!” I immediately said, “No, you witch! Not about you… it was something else.” Ankita made a face and said, “Then tell me, what was it?” Dad also smiled and said, “Oh Ankita dear, why are you getting angry at your brother… we were talking about you only.” Ankita immediately said, “See! I told you!” I laughed and said, “Come here… I’ll tell you now!”
