At dinner time, Nellie, as Leila Delamare's niece, ate happily together with the Seymour family.
Only Ableson frowned and had no appetite.
Camilla left together with Edwin plain and simple. She took nothing with her, including the 3 million dollars and the villa.
"Where's Camilla? Why isn't she down for dinner?" Keaton Seymour, Ableson's father, asked in surprise.
"We are divorced. And we've already signed the papers," Ableson lowered his eyes and answered. "We'll go through the rest of the formalities someday."
"Divorce? Why?" Keaton was stunned.
"Alas, Keaton, I told you already. Ableson and Camilla are not for each other. They were together only because of Ogden."
Leila, Keaton's wife, sighed, "Camilla has been suffering for three years. Now that she is willing to let go and leave both her and Ableson alone, this is actually a good thing for both of them. You know that Ableson has always loved Nellie."
"Ableson, marriage is a serious thing. What's more, Camilla..."
"Dad, we have signed the divorce papers already, and Camilla has already left. She took nothing with her." Ableson frowned in frustration.
"Well, well. That bumpkin has a backbone."
Dalia Seymour, the third kid of the Seymour family, sneered, "She isn't acting, right? Don't tell me that she'll go around and act pitifully, claiming that we didn't treat her fairly."
Hearing her words, Ableson frowned deeper, and a trace of anger appeared between his brows.
"Ableson, you acted too recklessly this time. Your grandpa is still ill. How are you going to explain it to him?" Keaton was afraid that Ogden would be mad at this, and he was a bit anxious.
"I'll tell him the truth. Also, next month, I will announce my marriage and make Nellie my wife officially."
Nellie stared at Ableson's handsome profile, her eyes so affectionate.
"Nonsense! How can you abandon your wife just like that? You have been married for three years! If words get out, your reputation will be ruined!"
"I never care about things like fame. Camilla is never the woman I want." Ableson was firm, without a trace of regret.
"Keaton, please don't blame Ableson. If you want to blame someone, blame me."
Nellie leaned against Ableson's broad shoulders and said, about to shed tears, "It was my fault. I shouldn't have appeared in front of Ableson... I will go back to Canada early tomorrow. Ableson, you should go to Camilla and patch things up with her. I don't want to be a sinner who breaks you up..."
"Nellie, you have nothing to do with it."
Ableson's eyes darkened as he held Nellie's slender hand. "Camilla and I are done. You have already endured it because of me for three years, and I won't let you suffer anymore."
...
The night breeze was cool and refreshing.
Edwin brought Belinda to the riverbank to relax. They went on a cruise to enjoy the magnificent urban night view.
"Edwin, give me a break!"
Belinda looked gloomily at the couples around them. "It's a dating mecca! I barely dare to come here, OK?"
"Is that so? Blame Dean then. He said he'd be setting off fireworks here at 8:00 p.m. sharp."
Edwin raised his wrist and looked at his watch elegantly. "Five, four, three, two, and one."
With a bang, a huge Burgundy firework burst into the sky.
All the young couples came out onto the deck of the cruise ship, and people began to gather on the riverbank.
"Dean's taste is so ... lame," Belinda said, clicking her tongue and shaking her head, but she felt warm deep down.
"Considering all the weird gifts you've received from him over the years, I guess this is an improvement."
Edwin held Belinda's shoulder and gently pulled her into his arms. "This isn't the only gift you'll receive today. Everyone has got gifts for you, which have already filled your room. Belinda, many people love you. Save your love and time for those who deserve it."
Belinda suddenly felt the urge to cry, and she was moved thoroughly.
At the same time, a black Maybach parked outside the crowd.
Ableson held Nellie's hand and got out of the car. The wind was cold in the night, and she squeezed into his arms charmingly.
"Wow, what beautiful fireworks! Ableson, look!"
Nellie was always like an innocent little girl in front of Ableson, which was the thing he liked about her the most.
On the contrary, Camilla was way too dull and unromantic, and she wasn't Ableson's type at all.
In the past three years, only one thing about Camilla satisfied Ableson. She was obedient enough.
Yet it was useless. Still, she wasn't the one he wanted at all.
Ableson and Nellie went to the railing, and suddenly, four fireworks bloomed together, turning into two words in the air.
"Happy Birthday!"
"Oh, it's someone's birthday. I wonder who gets such a gift. I'm sure the birthday person will be so happy," Nellie couldn't help but sigh, feeling very envious.
Ableson's dark pupils suddenly contracted. He felt that his heart was gripped by an invisible force, and his thin lips pursed into a line.
He thought, today is Camilla's birthday. Could these fireworks be a birthday present from Edwin?
Suddenly, he heard a clear and pleasant voice, which was so familiar.
The cruise ship passed in front of them, and an outstanding man and woman were standing on the deck. They were Camilla and Edwin.
"Hey! It's Camilla. Who is the man beside her? He looks so familiar, and it seems that they are very close," Nellie pretended to be innocent and asked.
Ableson frowned even deeper, and his face turned livid. The veins on the back of his hand that clung to the railing stood out.
He thought, sure enough.
We're not even officially divorced, and she can't wait to spend the night with another man and throw herself at him. Then why did she cry miserably in front of me in the afternoon?
The cruise ship made two turns on the river and docked on the bank.
After pretty much all the tourists left, Edwin held Belinda's waist and got off the cruise ship.
"Camilla!"
Hearing the call, Belinda instantly tensed up.
She looked back slowly and saw Ableson striding towards her under the dim light. His handsome face still took her breath away easily.
Yet it wouldn't make any difference. Her love was finally destroyed by the man in front of her who had amazed her for thirteen years, and she had no strength to love him anymore.
"Who is he?" Ableson's expression was cold and oppressive.
"Mr. Seymour, it seems that you don't have a good memory. Do you?"
Edwin hugged Belinda tightly and smiled, "We've had more than one confrontation in business."
"Camilla, answer my question." Ableson ignored Edwin and went forward.
"We have already divorced, Mr. Seymour. What business is it of yours who this gentleman is?" Belinda's rosy lips parted slightly as she replied coldly.
Ableson was shocked. He could not believe that the usually obedient and sweet Camilla would speak to him like this.
"We haven't officially divorced yet, and you can't wait to be with another man?"
Edwin thought, you were the one who was having an affair. How dare you accuse Belinda?
Edwin's eyes darkened. He was about to go forward but was stopped by Belinda.
Seeing that she was protecting another man, Ableson was even unhappier.
"We haven't officially divorced yet, and the love of Mr. Seymour's life can't wait to replace me. However, I stay silent about it. Then Mr. Seymour, who are you to stand in the way of me being with someone else?"
Belinda's dark hair fluttered in the wind, and she curved her rosy lips into a mocking smile. Ableson had never seen her so pretty and wild. "What is it? You, my ex-husband, can act however you want, and I, your ex-wife, still have to live according to your rules?"
Her words were so harsh and sharp, making Ableson speechless.
Only then did Nellie, who had lost Ableson, catch up. Seeing that Ableson still had feelings for Camilla, she stomped her foot angrily, and her high heels caused her to sprain her ankle and fall to the ground.
"Ah! Ableson! My foot hurts!"
Ableson came back to his senses and quickly turned to help Nellie, who was lying on the ground.
By the time he looked at Belinda again, Belinda and Edwin had already disappeared silently.
