Chapter 9: Shocking Events

3598 Words
Lil's POV When I got to the 2nd floor, I went to one of the offices that Jazz had pointed out to me. I opened the door and was shocked to find a spacious office with a nice desk. The wall covering the whole left side of the room was a giant bookshelf covered in books, 2 filing cabinets on the back right-hand side of the office and a desk that had a window behind it looking out into the backyard. There were also 2 chairs facing the desk and a couch and coffee table as well. “Fancy office” I noticed on the wall above the couch was artwork in frames that looked amazing. “I wonder if Luka made these?” I locked the door and went over and sat behind the desk and called my boss. He picked up on the first ring. ‘Hello Lillian’ “Yes, sir, you said we had an emergency.” ‘Yes, so the mission I was going to have your team work on has changed, and we have made a…. Well, I honestly am not sure what we have come across.’ “You don’t know?” I found that odd. ‘I am going to send you some photos and I will need you to be open-minded and also honest with what you see.’ He piqued my interest as well as my anxiety. ‘I sent the photos. You should be getting them now.’ I checked my phone, and I did have three new messages from him. ‘If you could walk me through these photos with what you see, I would appreciate that.’ Erik is never this nice. “Okay sir, let me open up the first photo.” I pulled up the photos. “Sir, is this a prank? These look like children's book characters.” ‘I promise it is no prank. Those photos are real and, well, we need your religion, folklore, and tales to help figure out what we have here.’ “Okay, but may I ask which team or person came across these?” ‘It was another special sect group. I think you have worked with this team before, and do you know of the one named Ghost?’ "Yes, I know him and his people. They are good." They also scare me. They all look half dead and have zero emotions. I chose to leave field work while he stayed in it, so I don't deal with him a lot nowadays. ‘His group and a few others were on a mission to track some items down. When they finally got the items back, they came across some people... I think. Well, the photos I sent you are from our cells.’ “Understood well, looking at this first photo I can see that they have red eyes, and I am guessing that some people were attacked on their necks with puncture marks?” ‘Yes’ “Okay, so that would lead me to believe that you have a vampire in a cell.” ‘What are their weaknesses?’ “Well, Sir, what I know about them and their weaknesses and strengths come from legends. So, that being said, their weaknesses are silver and vervain.” ‘Okay, we will work on that to keep it subdued.’ “The second photo looks like a giant dog. So that could mean a werewolf or Lycan, not sure which.” ‘Just sent you a link that may help.’ I opened the link, and I could not believe what I was seeing. It showed the live feed from the cells, and I was blown away that these creatures were real. I looked at the first one, and it was a man with all black clothes and slicked-back hair. He was actually nice looking but decided not to think about that. I flipped to the next video, and I know now what it is. “Sir, the second photo is a werewolf and if you want it to go back to human form you will need to write down the items, I say, and get the weapons and medical department on it. First thing is, werewolves are very emotional and protective of things and people. Their weaknesses are silver and wolfsbane. I would get both the vampire and werewolf in some silver chains, but make sure the silver touches the skin. It will leave burns on them. But you will need to inject them with the herbs I mentioned, not too much but enough to get into the cell and put them in chains.” ‘Wonderful information. This is good to know. What about the last one?’ I looked at the last feed and was not prepared for it. While the werewolf and vampire looked like men in their 30s -40s, maybe the last video was a little girl that looked to be around the age of 13. I didn’t see anything about her that got my attention really, so I didn’t know what she was, and I knew he wouldn’t be happy about that. “Sir, I don’t see anything that can tell me what she is, but if you want to just inject several things into her and see what happens, you could do that, but she is just a child.” ‘She may look like a child, but these three things killed 10 people. Good people. MY PEOPLE!’ Okay, he is beyond pissed. That's not good. ‘Tell me the items, and she will get them all. I need answers about what is going on. We need justice for their deaths.’ “Sir, I want justice for their deaths too, but she is a child, and the men could have been trying to protect her. I'm not defending their actions, but you asked for my help with getting information, and I am giving you everything I know.” I took a pause before continuing “Also, you know I have a stance of never harming a child.” ‘I know your beliefs and stances well, but again I need information.’ “Okay, then my honest opinion that will get you answers is don’t touch the girl, just mess with the men and do what I said. I would also look into the person that hired us and also, I say this, since we have entered the twilight zone, Do Not Touch the Item. We are dealing with a lot of unknowns, and I don’t think it would be wise to touch the item the client wants.” The line was silent for a moment. ‘I will see if we can get answers with what you have given me, but if we don’t, I will be calling you in. Understand.’ “Yes, Sir, I understand.” ‘Okay, well, I will be in touch’ "Of course, good night." I hung up the phone and took a big breath and blew it out. I couldn’t believe that the legends and myths were real. The historian in me wants to just talk to them and learn about them, but the military soldier in me is telling me to stay calm and collected because this is business. Erik was out for blood, so I knew blood would be spilled. I just hope I won’t be called in to come spill it. “Never a dull moment with work and life.” Buzz, buzz, buzz. I looked at my phone and saw that Jazz had sent me a message. >Girl, where are you?I’m in one of the offices on the second floor.Oh. I was worried since I couldn’t find you anywhere.Well I’m fine. Just wanted some privacy to call my boss is all. That makes sense. Well, come downstairs. I have already started making cookies. We just need to bake them.Okay, I am heading down now. I will clean since you mixed.Sweet, thanks.< Knock, knock, knock. I put my phone in my pocket and went over and unlocked the door. "Can I use my office now?” Luka asked. “Oh sorry. I wondered if it was your office.” “You did?” “Well, I thought it was because of the artwork on the wall. You made them right?” “Oh yeah, I did.” Luka said, stepping into the office. “Do you have a favorite one?” I walked over to one of a waterfall at night in the forest, surrounded by fireflies. “This one is my favorite. It just looks so peaceful, calming, and beautiful. What was the inspiration behind it?” “The inspiration is the place.” “Wait, that’s a real place?” “Yes, it’s real. If you want, I could take you there sometime.” “I will have to think about it and get back with you,” I told him. "Jazz just messaged, so I will head down to the kitchen now. Bye." I headed to the kitchen to find Jazz putting in two trays of cookies. “Please tell me those are chocolate chip cookies.” “Of course. So, I will set a timer. If you could listen out for it, that would be awesome. Since I really need to pee.” I laughed, “Go ahead, I will work on cleaning the kitchen up.” Being given the green light, she ran out of the kitchen. I laughed and got all the dishes in the sink and started to clean up. After 10 mins, I had all the dishes cleaned and decided to try and put everything back in their spots, which took 20 mins. The oven timer went off. I went and turned it off and took the trays out of the oven. I put the cookies on a cooling rake and used the two cookie sheets that were stacked next to the mixing bowl to make more. After scooping the dough on to the sheets, I put it in the oven for 15 mins. I wanted to play it safe. After closing the oven, I found it odd that Jazz still wasn’t back yet. I left the kitchen and was about to head upstairs when I heard someone talking down the hall. I followed it down the hall to the office door and it was cracked open. I knew I shouldn’t ease drop, but curiosity got the best of me. “You can’t be serious”, Jazz asked. “We are,” Marcus replied. “Are you absolutely sure?” “We are. We weren’t sure at first, but now we are,” Aaron said. “Of all people, why her? Why did the Moon Goddess pick her for you four?” Jazz asked loudly. ‘The Moon Goddess, why is she talking about her?’ I wondered. “That’s why we asked you to come in here and talk to us, because we knew this would affect you,” Damien stated. “Yes, it does! Though not only that, but she doesn’t know what I am or what you guys are. So, you will have to find a way to explain it to her,” Jazz said, freaking out. “On top of all that, it's 4 of you and one of her. Poly is normal for our kind and while she is fine with it in general, I don’t think she personally would be open to that.” “Look, she seems to feel something for us. She said so, but we didn’t know how to go about showing or telling her. You know her best. Do you know of any way? We don’t want to lose her,” Luka pleaded. I decided to stop listening and headed back to the kitchen. My brain was swimming with so much information from today alone that I was about ready to go on a vacation for a month out of the country just to get away from everything and actually relax. The oven decided to go off. At that moment, I walked over and checked on the cookies. They needed some more time to cook. So I set the timer for a few more minutes. “Hey girl. Wow! You really cleaned up in here,” Jazz said, walking into the kitchen. “Of course. We do need something to put the cookies in though.” “I will grab some containers.” She walked over to a cupboard and grabbed some containers. Then she got herself a cup of ice water and I did the same. “Okay, this silence is too much. We need music.” I laughed. “Okay, but whose music yours or mine?” “We can use mine. I made a playlist of both of our favorite songs.” She walked out of the kitchen and came back in with a little speaker. The oven timer went off again, so while Jazz put on some music, I got the two trays out of the oven and put the cookies on the drying rake to cool off. Then put two more trays in the oven. ‘There’s a place downtown where the freaks all come around. There’s a whole in the wall. It’s a dirty free for all you know." [(Take it off by Kesha)] “Man, I haven’t heard this song in a while.” I looked at Jazz, who was dancing. “It’s a good song and I know you love it.” “Why don’t you put some of these cooled-off cookies in a container and help make more cookies.” I laughed. Jazz was dancing around the kitchen while doing each task, and eventually I started dancing too. We had made about 6 dozen cookies and still had some dough left to bake. “Why did you make so much?” “I was going to give you some to go home with. I know you and others love cookies. The rest will stay here, and we will eat them,” Jazz said after putting more cookies in the oven. “Thanks girl.” “Of course.” Just then, the next song started to play. “Girl skip this song please!” “Why it’s a good song?” “We are not listening to WAP in a house with 4 guys.” I ran to grab her phone to skip the song, but she beat me to it. ‘I don’t cook, I don’t clean, but let me tell you how I got this ring!’ came through the speaker. “I’m serious, skip the song!” “Nope. I know you know the words to the whole song,” Jazz stated. Which was true, but this is not a song to play in a house with guys in it. “So!” “I will skip the song if you sing some of the song,” Jazz said to me, smirking. “I am not singing or rapping this song.” “Fine.” Jazz messed with her phone and the song got louder. “Sing and I will skip.” “Fine. Ugh!” Jazz turned the volume down, waiting for me to start rapping the words. I rolled my eyes and took a breath and rapped the lines 'If he ate my ass, he’s a bottom feeder. Big D stands for big demeanor. I could make ya just before I every meet ya. If it don’t hang, then he can’t bang. You can’t hurt my feelings, but I like pain. If he f**k me and ask, “Whose is it?” when I ride the d**k. I’m a spell my name.' [(WAP by Cardi B. feat Megan Thee Stallion)] “There I rapped it, now change the song.” “Okay,” Jazz said, trying not to laugh but, in the end, failed. “What?” I didn’t get what was so funny. Jazz was holding her stomach, laughing. Suddenly, someone cleared their throat behind me. ‘Oh no’ “Jazz, please tell me I didn’t hear someone behind me just now.” I was pleading with my eyes, hoping they weren’t behind me. I swallowed my embarrassment and turned around to find all four of them in the kitchen staring at me with wide eyes. Though Damien and Marcus were smirking. “We smelled the cookies and were coming to grab some,” Luka said. I know I was red in the face from embarrassment and also a little pissed at Jazz. “There, right there.” I pointed at a container and moved over to where Jazz was standing to get away from them. “Sounded like you meant those words there little one,” Damien said, still smirking. I slowly turned to face Jazz. She smiled meekly. “Are you mad at me, girl?” “Yes and no” I told her. She shrugged, “I can live with that.” “So did you mean the words?” This time it was Luka that asked. I turned to face them. “It’s a song. I was just rapping the words.” I noticed they had each grabbed a cookie to eat. “Sure.” Aaron drew out, not believing me. Ding! Dong! We all turned toward the sound. “Was that the doorbell?” I asked, shocked. It was going off at 8pm. Jazz shared a look with the guys and then slowly all left the kitchen except for Luka and me. “Why would someone be ringing your doorbell so late?” “It’s probably nothing. Could be someone stopping by to say hi or something,” Luka told me. “LUKA! GET IN HERE!” Someone yelled from the front. “That can’t be good,” I said while we both headed to the front door. “Seriously, yelling is so not needed. I can go find my own nephew,” a woman at the door said to Marcus, who was not looking too happy. I went and stood near Jazz and just kept quiet. “Autie, grandma, what are you both doing here?” Luka said to the ladies at the door. “Well, hello to you too. Come give us a hug sweetie,” the older-looking woman said. Luka went over and hugged the woman, and I figured out that the younger-looking woman he hugged was his Aunt and the older one was his grandma. They were both gorgeous. They were about 5’5” and both had tan skin with blonde hair. Though their eyes were gray instead of blue like him, he must have gotten his eyes from his dad. “What are you both doing here and at this time?” Luka asked. “Well, we were in the area and wanted to come by and see you and also introduce you to Clara. She is visiting, and she is single and has a lot in common with you,” the Aunt said with a smile. “It’s nice to meet you,” Clara said with a huge smile on her face. I could tell she was bad news just from her smile. She may look sweet, but I bet she has one hell of an ugly side hidden under that sweet smile. “Hi” Luka said to her flatly. “Mom, what the hell? You know I am already mated with them.” He motioned to the other three guys standing beside him. “Well, you are mated to men, and you can’t have children with male mates. You need a female.” His grandma told him seriously. “Mrs. Barson, Mrs. Blinxton. Luka is happy. Just let him be and stop trying to force women on him. It's rude,” Jazz told them, stepping forward. “Jasmine, stay out of this. It doesn’t concern you.” She said in a rude tone. I had been standing off to the side with Jazz not getting involved. Then their eyes landed on me. “Young lady, who are you?” She looked at me with disgust, as if I was beneath her, but I chose to ignore her rude tone. “Hello, my name is Lillian.” I told them kindly and respectfully. “Looks like you finally got a maid. At least she knows how to show respect. Go get me a glass of water.” She said to me with a wave of her hand. “Get it yourself. I’m no maid.” I told her pissed that she was being so rude. “How dare you talk to her that way, know your place human!” Clare hissed at me. “I’m sorry I don’t speak stuck-up bitch.” I replied to her. This response got the attention of everyone. “Lillian is a guest here, not a maid, and you will show respect”, Marcus told all three women. “She is a human. She is lower than an omega, and she is rude. I will not tolerate anything from someone like her.” “Human?” I was confused. “What the hell is an omega? Also, if you don’t show me respect, then I won’t show you any. You have been rude to Luka, Marcus and now Jazz. I may not get what is going on, but respect is earned, not just given lady.” I was both confused and pissed and I let it show. Everyone was wide-eyed and quiet. They seemed shocked at what I had said, but I was just stating facts. SLAP!
