How it all began

**Chapter 2** **XMk0Pi Just Living** As you could have guessed, she walked in on them heavily making out. The pain of seeing her best friend with her boyfriend was too unbearable and unforgivable for Mary. She stormed out crying and drove off without looking back. Days and weeks passed, but the pain was still fresh. Lindah apologised for weeks; she felt horrible for what had happened and just wanted her friend back. However, Mary wasn't ready to forgive her just yet, especially after Joseph took some chick on a family vacation. She scrolled through his posts on i********: and couldn't hold back her cries; her sobs filled the hallway. After a month of waiting for Joseph, and yet no signs of him regretting his deeds, Mary decided to move on with her life and forgive her best friend. Why waste a not-so-perfect but still great friendship on an asshole who doesn't give a s**t? Being all goodie-goodie besties again, the girls decided to go out clubbing and catch some heat. By the time they arrived, the club was full, and the girls were having a great time dancing and flirting with just about anyone who showed interest. But one guy caught Mary's attention. --- **Mary P.O. v** As I was dancing and getting my game on, I could feel someone's eyes on me, but when I turned, no one was staring. It must've been the alcohol getting to me. But it still felt strange. This time, when I turned, the most perfectly sculpted, handsome person I had ever seen was staring at me with such an intense gaze that I suddenly didn't know where to look. He was 6'9" tall, had broad shoulders, and even though he was dressed formally, his muscular chest could still be seen—smooth in between skin tones, elegant and classy, with a spark of mischief in his eyes. He kept staring at me while sipping on his drink, and I couldn't help but stare back; a slight smirk crossed his face. "Great, now he knows that I am checking him out." He started walking toward me, and I froze; my mind was telling me to run or hide, but my body wouldn't move. I watched him as he set his drink on the bar counter, stood up majestically, ran his fingers through his hair, and then walked toward me while I stood amid the dance floor, watching him in awe. He stopped only a few inches away as his cologne filled the air around me with a green, smoky fragrance; I hadn't even noticed that I had spaced out until he spoke. "You know, you really shouldn't stare at someone like that." Huh, I chuckled. Damn, even his voice is sexy. "Okay, Mary, you can be sexier; you are a sexy-ass woman." "Me? Stare?" He simply nodded in response. "Well, you stared first." Yes, you tell him, girl, my inner voice cheering me on. "Yes, I did," he responded, pausing on the "yes." "Don't even try to—" I replied, raising my finger and stopping mid-sentence to process what he said. "Yes?" "Yes," he replied, all serious but with a smirk. There it is—that mischievous, annoying, yet intriguing smirk again. "So you are just going to admit it, just like that?" "Yes, you are a pretty... interesting dancer. I couldn't help but stare," he admitted. "Are you saying that I'm a horrible dancer?" I couldn't help but raise my voice a little. "No, not horrible—just interesting," he replied. "Interesting?" I questioned. "Mmmh, can I buy you a drink?" he asked instead of giving an answer. "Hmm... why?" I asked. "Well, you must be exhausted after all that great, interesting dancing," he stated, emphasising the word "great." "Well, a lady should hold up a dance, don't you think?" "She sure should. So, a drink?" "Sure, why not?" We spent the night chatting and drinking, chatting and drinking some more—just getting to know each other. One thing led to another, and we ended up spending the night together. It was one of the most beautiful nights ever, which sparked a new beginning.
