Chapter 15New York City
Jake had been to New York once before but had been too busy with his students to take much notice of the city. For a guy who had grown up in a small town in Florida, New York seemed enormous. Tim Baxter had sent a limo to pick him up at the airport, as he knew Jake would have no idea how to get around in the big city. Jake stared out the window of the car, marveling at how long it was taking to get into Manhattan. The city seemed to go on forever. As they neared the skyline, Jake stared at the tall buildings. Their number and height were truly awe inspiring. The limo followed the highway downward into the Queens–Midtown Tunnel under the East River and emerged into the heart of Manhattan on 34th Street. Turning right on Broadway, it stopped at 44th.
