Chapter 18Broadway, Two Months Later
Jake’s one-man play ended its short run, but it was noticed by many people. There weren’t as many reviews as for a major production, but the few reviews in the major press were enthusiastic. More than that, however, the reviews in the local gay publications raved about the play. Jake’s writing as well as his acting were highly praised. He became the new hero of the gay community.
But now it was time to begin rehearsals for Listen to Your Mother, a comedy about a man who’s haunted by the family matriarch. This play didn’t have a large cast, but Jake had been given the lead. As he hadn’t previously done a comedy, this would be a bit of a challenge for him. While memorizing his lines wouldn’t be difficult, he’d need a lot of direction on his comic timing
