Her heart skipped a beat as she hesitated, wondering what Amanda wanted. "Hey..." Maddie said finally, answering the call. 📞 “Maddie... it's mom!" Amanda's voice interrupted, causing Maddie to shiver. The tone was frantic, and Maddie's instincts told her something was wrong. "What about her?" Maddie asked, trying to sound calm, but Amanda's sobbing on the other end made her terrified. "What happened?" Maddie asked again, getting impatient. 📞 “She... He let out a heavy sigh and lay down, reaching for his phone to dial a number. But it kept saying "leave a voicemail" as the person he was trying to call was not available. "Damn!" he cursed, frustration etched on his face. He sat up and strolled over to his window, gazing out at the breathtaking view. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the landscape. Just as he was lost in thought, he heard a dog bark from downstairs. He raised an eyebrow in surprise. No one in the mansion had a dog... unless someone had bought one without telling him. The barking grew louder, and Cameroon's curiosity got the better of him. He walked downstairs, his footsteps getting faster. As he reached the bottom of the stairs, his gaze met a little white puppy with pristine fur. The puppy's tail wagged excitedly as it ran up to Cameroon, licking his foot. Cameroon couldn't help but smile, his initial annoyance forgotten. But his smile faltered when he turned to see Damric standing in front of him, a smirk plastered on his face. "It's my pup," Damric said, his eyes gleaming with pride. Cameroon raised an eyebrow. "Oh, what's it's name?" he asked, kneeling down to pet the puppy. Damric chuckled. "It's a he. And his name is... Uh, Love. Yeah, Love." Cameroon looked up at Damric, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Love, huh? You're really original, Damric." Damric shrugged, his grin still intact. "Hey, it suits him, doesn't it?" “I.. think so” Cameroon muttered his mind drifting back to Maddie. ●♡♡♡♡。♡♡。✿ ♡♡ BENISON'S CARE CENTER Maddie rushed into the waiting room, her eyes scanning the area frantically. "Where's mom?" she asked, but Amanda just kept sobbing, unable to answer. Maddie's mind went blank as she tried to process what was happening. "Amiee... where's Alice?" she asked again, her voice shaking. Amanda's trembling hand pointed towards an operating room, where a team of doctors and nurses were working to save Alice's life. Maddie gently strode towards the window, peering through the glass. Her mom lay motionless on the operating table, breathing slowly with blood covering her forehead, arm, and legs. She had been in that position since she arrived from school, feeling weak and tired to do anything else. But despite her fatigue, she forced herself to stand up and headed downstairs, hoping to find some comfort in her family's presence. However, as she reached the bottom of the stairs, she realized that she was alone in the house. There was silence, and she called out, "Mom! Jennifer!" but her voice was met with silence. She walked towards her parents' room, her heart beating with a mix of fear and curiosity. She opened the door slightly, but still found no one. Taking a deep breath, she gently pushed the door open and stepped inside, shutting it behind her. The room was Large, with cream-colored walls, a large, four-poster bed, and a beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The bed was made, with a few pillows arranged against the headboard. A large, ornate mirror hung on one wall, and a dresser with a large, round mirror stood against another. Jasmine's eyes scanned the room, taking in every detail. As she stood there, her eyes landed on a piece of paper on the floor. She picked it up, her eyes widening in shock as she read the contents. It was a medical report, detailing her mother's womb infertility. Jasmine's mind reeled as she tried to process the information. "Was mom trying for another baby?" she thought, but then shook her head, dismissing the idea. She turned the paper over, and what she saw left her breathless. It was a surgical document, detailing a procedure that Jasmine couldn't understand. Her eyes scanned the page, her heart racing with every word. She felt like she had stumbled into something she wasn't meant to see. Something that her parents had kept hidden from her. Jasmine's mind was filled with questions, but she knew she had to be careful. She couldn't just confront her parents without knowing the full story. 🦋 BENISON'S CARE CENTER 🦋 Maddie's eyes were fixed on the doctor, her heart racing with every word. "She's alive, but she needs an urgent surgery," the doctor explained, his expression serious. She felt a wave of relief wash over her, but it was quickly replaced by a sense of dread. "How much will it cost?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. The doctor hesitated before answering, "It's a significant amount, I'm afraid. We're talking thousands of dollars." Maddie's eyes widened in shock. Where would she find that kind of money? She thought of her dad, but he was nowhere to be found. And then, one person came to mind - Cameroon. She quickly pulled out her phone and texted him, asking him to come to the hospital as soon as possible. After what felt like an eternity, Cameroon arrived, his expression concerned. "Hey, what's going on?" he asked, his eyes scanning the hospital room. Maddie took a deep breath before explaining the situation. "My mom was in an accident, and she needs surgery. But it's going to cost a lot of money." Cameroon's expression turned serious, and Maddie could see the wheels turning in his head. "I'm sorry, Maddie. That's tough." Maddie felt a lump form in her throat as she looked up at Cameroon. "I know this is a lot to ask, but...I was wondering if you could help me with the bills." Cameroon raised an eyebrow, his expression skeptical. "Why do you think I'd be able to help you with that?" Maddie took a deep breath before answering. "Because...I trust you, Cam. From the day I met you, I knew that you were different. And I have to admit, I've already started to see you more than a friend." Cameroon's expression softened. But then, his face hardened, and he held up her hands. "Don't trust me, Maddie," he said, his voice low and serious. "I'm not the kind of person you think I am." Maddie felt disappointed, but she tried to push it aside. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "We're better off as friends, Maddie," he said finally, his voice firm but gentle. And with that he walked out. Maddie watched as Cameroon turned and walked away, leaving her feeling stunned and confused. She couldn't believe what had just happened. One minute, she was pouring her heart out to him, and the next, he was rejecting her and walking away. She felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her, followed by a deep sadness. She had trusted Cameroon, had thought that he might feel the same way about her. But now, she realized that she had misread the situation entirely.
