“Jennifer! “ Jasmine screamed angrily. She was sitting elegantly on her black floral soft couch that was just next to her bed.
“Yes ma'am” Jennifer answered rushing into her room.
“What happened to my clothes... You didn't do the laundry?“ Jasmine asked glaring at Jennifer.
“Jasmine... You're almost nineteen... I think you should.... “ Jennifer's words were interrupted by a loud slap from behind.
It was Mrs langlin standing beside her. She was only dressed a a white silky bathtub.
“How dare you speak to my daughter in that manner?“ She asked angrily and Jennifer shivered in fear.
“It was a mistake....“ She shuttered fearfully afraid Mrs langlin might slap her again.
“Better be!“ Mrs langlin said angrily before walking out and Jennifer followed suit.
Jasmine just watched blankly with mixed emotions. She couldn't tell if she was happy or angry.
Her mom never cared about her... Since her parents marriage was arranged. And she wondered why her mom always mistreat Jennifer.

“She did so?“ Mr langlin asked Jennifer who was standing across him.
“Yes... It's ok. But I'm not happy about our daughter's recent behavior” Jennifer muttered and Mr Langlin's face fell.
“I'll try best ok?“ He assured her and she glanced at him before walking back to the kitchen.

“ yummy“ Amanda muttered in between the dumplings in her mouth as she gave her mom a thumb up.
And Alice smiled knowing fully well dumplings were Amanda's favorite. If only she had money to prepare more better food. Maybe they won't be eating dumplings and sandwiches.
“ If only I had more money..“ Alice said and Amanda stared at her pitiful.
“Mom, you'll get a job soon. Okay?“
Meanwhile Maddie stood behind the kitchen's door listening to them and just then Alice phone rang.
“It's Mr Austin!“ Alive exclaimed in shock and Maddie frowned in disgust. She hated the way her mom always addressed him.
“Really?“ Amanda asked and Alice hushed her.
“Hello sir?“ Alice said and Austin chuckled.
“Is Maddie there?“ He asked.. Maddie could hear it since it was on a loud speaker.
“No... I can..“
“It's ok” Austin interrupted.
“Just wanted to give you back your job...“ He said and both Alice and Amanda's eyes widened in shock.
“Thank you sir!“ Alice exclaimed happy.
“Under one condition.... “ Austin said.
“I'm giving it to your daughter. Maddie. And I'll increase the pay three times more” Austin said and without giving Alice time to say a word, the line went dead.
Alice and Amanda screamed in joy.
“How do we get Maddie to accept it?“ Amanda asked and her mom frowned.

REED'S MANSION

“Have you gotten it?“ Cameroon asked someone on the phone.
“No sir.. but I'm trying my best. There's no evidence at this point” The person at the other end said and Cameroon sigh in frustration.
“Well, do it fast... I'll double your pay” He said before hanging up.
He then thought about his sister... Who was still at their private hospital in Japan and the doctors were trying their best to make sure she survived.
He closed his eyes... Slowly remembering the night his sister got shot.

CECELIA'S ROOM
Cecelia lay on her bed... She was on a video call with Avery.
“Girl you're sure you don't like him?“ Avery asked and Cecelia scoffed.
“Why would I? Because he stood up for me?“ She asked and Avery glared at her.
“Nope. If you don't like him... Why are you playing along with him?“
“I'm gonna use it to get back at Jasmine” Cecelia answered sharply and Avery looked at her in shock.
“By playing with someone's feelings?“
“He doesn't even like me. So?“ Cecelia said and Avery just didn't know what to say anymore.
“Good night” She said and then the line went dead.

Maddie stood at her locker, dropping in a few books, when she sensed a presence beside her. She turned to find Austin standing there, his eyes fixed intently on hers. The once-bustling hallway fell silent, with only faint whispers from the surrounding students.
"Last night..." Austin began, his voice low and smooth.
Maddie cut him off. "You called my mom, didn't you?" she asked, her eyes narrowing.
Austin nodded, a hint of a smirk on his lips. "And she agreed to my conditions."
Maddie's face twisted in irritation. "If you think you can persuade my mom, then you're a total loser!" she exclaimed, her voice echoing through the hallway.
The students gasped, their eyes wide with surprise. Austin chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement, as he placed his hand on Maddie's locker, trapping her.
They stood inches apart, their faces almost touching. Maddie's heart racing with discomfort.
"Why aren't you just obedient?" Austin asked, his voice low and husky. "Why are you so stubborn? It would have been simple."
Maddie's eyes flashed with anger. "I'm not! I'm not agreeing to that. There are other people out there who want to work with you. And besides, why do you keep coming after me?"
Just then, Damric and Cameroon walked into the hallway, but went unnoticed. All eyes were on Austin and Maddie, their faces inches apart.
"If you don't want to work with me..." Austin said, his voice dripping with menace, "then there are consequences."
Maddie's eyes locked onto his, her heart pounding in her chest. "Then I would gladly accept the consequences of my actions."
“I can leave you and give the job back to your mom... Only if you do something” Austin said and Maddie raised an eyebrow.
“What is it?“
Austin's eyes gleamed with mischief as he stared her. "Kiss someone, right here, right now. I bet you can't do it." He knew she felt irritated around guys and wouldn't dare to do so.
Maddie's face burned with anger, but Austin just chuckled. His gaze swept the hallway, and his eyes landed on Cameroon, who stood watching the scene unfold with an unreadable expression.
"Ah, perfect," Austin said, a sly smile spreading across his face. "Kiss him. The mute blonde guy. I won't disturb you."
👤 “Eww, the blonde guy?“
👤 “She wouldn't dare.. she's a tomboy and a weirdo”
👤 “Wow, Damric is here too”
Maddie's eyes widened in surprise, but she refused to back down. "If that's your wish, then I would gladly do it," she said, trying to sound braver than she felt.
👤 “What? “
👤 “ She really wants to kiss him?“
Although she had no idea how to kiss, Maddie steeled herself and walked slowly towards Cameroon. He didn't move, didn't react, just kept staring at her with an intense gaze.
Maddie's heart pounded in her chest as she approached him. Without warning, she crashed her lips onto Cameroon's, the sudden movement making her stumble.
Cameroon's hands shot out to steady her, his fingers wrapping around her waist. Maddie felt a jolt of electricity run through her body as their lips touched.
Her lips moved awkwardly against Cameroon's, but to her surprise, he didn't pull away. Instead, his hands tightened around her waist, holding her steady as he deepened the kiss.
Their lips moved in tandem, the world around them fading into the background. Maddie felt a rush of excitement, her heart pounding in her chest.
Just as they were getting lost in the kiss, a loud gasp echoed through the hallway.
👤 “So irritating”
👤 “Just when jasmine arrives”
Austin's eyes were wide with shock, his face pale. "What the...?" he trailed off, his voice barely above a whisper.
The hallway fell silent, all eyes on the kissing couple. Maddie's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but she refused to pull away. She was determined to prove Austin wrong.
Cameroon, sensing her tension, tightened his hold around her waist. His lips continued to move against hers, sending shivers down her spine.
Austin's face turned red with rage, his eyes blazing with fury.
And then Maddie finally pulled away from Cameroon, her chest heaving with excitement. She turned to Austin, a sly smile spreading across her face.
"Looks like I can," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction.
“Wow! Bravo” someone clapped and Maddie turned to see Jasmine with a smirk on her face.
“ I think you both are better off with each other... The kiss was so... Irritating.” Jasmine added and Damric scoffed.
This was the most romantic kissimg scene he had ever seen. Knowing fully well it was Cameroon's first kiss.
“So... When are you giving my mom the job” Maddie muttered interrupting the silence.
“Well, I'm not changing my mind!“ Austin shouted angrily. His eyes blazing with anger before walking away and Maddie stared at him unbelievable.
He couldn't believe Maddie would choose a mute guy over him.

LANGLIN'S MANSION
Jennifer was arguing with one of the maids in hushed tones. "I'm telling you, she's so rude! The way she spoke to me was unacceptable."
The maid nodded in agreement, but before they could continue, Mrs. Langlin's voice echoed from the dining room. "Jennifer, serve my breakfast."
Jennifer hastily composed herself and headed to the dining room. She served Mrs. Langlin's breakfast with a forced smile.
As she turned to leave, Mrs. Langlin called out, "Jennifer, come back here."
Jennifer returned, her heart racing with anticipation. Mrs. Langlin's expression was stern. "I want to remind you of something. Just because you're Jasmine's surrogate mother doesn't mean you have the right to get close to her."
Jennifer's eyes widened, taken aback by the warning. "Yes, ma'am," she replied, trying to keep her emotions in check.
Mrs. Langlin's gaze pierced through her. "I mean it, Jennifer. Keep your distance."
Jennifer nodded, feeling a stinging sensation in her eyes. She quickly exited the dining room, trying to hold back tears.

The classroom was filled with the murmur of students chatting and the scratching of pens on paper. A teacher stood at the front, scribbling notes on the board. Some students, like Jasmine, were busy taking pictures, while others, like Damric, were doodling in their notebooks.
Maddie, still feeling the rush from her earlier kiss with Cameroon, couldn't focus on the lesson. She kept glancing at Cameroon, who sat across from her, his eyes fixed intently on the teacher.
Just then, Cameroon's phone beeped, shrill in the quiet classroom. He quickly rushed out of the classroom, Avery following discreetly behind him.
Outside, Cameroon checked his phone and saw that it was his personal agent calling. He answered, his voice low.
"Cameroon, I've got something," his agent said, his voice urgent. "I managed to get my hands on the CCTV footage from the night your sister got shot."
Cameroon's eyes widened in shock. "What does it show?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"It shows...," his agent paused, as if collecting his thoughts. "It shows that the shooter was someone close to your family."
Cameroon's eyes narrowed, his grip on his phone tightening. "Who?" he demanded.
But before his agent could respond, Cameroon felt a presence behind him. He turned to see Avery standing there, a look of shock on her face.
"You... can talk?" Avery shuttered. She knew he had been hiding something.
Cameroon's expression turned disapproving, and he shook his head.
The man on the other end of the call kept saying "Hello! Sir, are you there?" but Cameroon didn't respond. His agent eventually hung up, and Cameroon was left standing there.
