The heavy door of the car slammed shut, cutting off the freezing wind and the creepy fog outside. I threw my back against the leather seat, my chest heaving up and down. My eyes were still fixed on the dark window, staring at the empty alleyway across the street where that man in the gray jacket had just pointed a finger-gun right at my heart. Cassian scrambled into the seat right after me, his huge frame bringing the smell of cold rain and wet wool into the car. He didn't look calm anymore.
