The gate didn't open. I slammed my foot onto the gas pedal. The big black car charged forward like a monster. The metal bars of the back exit didn't move fast enough. We hit them hard. A loud, metal screech echoed through the car. The bumper tore the gate right off the hinges. My head jerked forward, almost hitting the steering wheel, but the seatbelt snapped me back into the seat.
