In Zeke's kitchen, Alexa’s mouth fell open at the buffet Nick had prepared. Beef, chicken, and roast—fried, sautéed, and baked. He even heated up veggies. No salad, though. Shifters didn’t do salads. The guys filled two plates each and sat at the small table. Alexa joined with one plate and a glass of water. She shook her head at the one-track male mind. All meat. “You know you don’t get all your vitamins and minerals from steak, right?” Nick grunted, which was normal. She was used to that. “I’m just getting started,” Zeke said with a smile. She sat next to him and picked up a juicy rib. “So,” Nick started, “you two are true mates. Who would’ve thought that?” She snorted. “You knew something. You were acting weirder than normal when you first brought it up.” Nick rolled his eyes.
