Lucas disappeared for a long time.
Then, on the day Adrian and I held our wedding ceremony, Lucas suddenly appeared at the venue.
My heart jumped into my throat.
"Emma, can I take a photo with you?"
I looked at Adrian, silently asking what he thought.
He gave an easy laugh.
"Of course."
Adrian took Lucas's phone and handed it to Diane.
"Mom, take one for us."
Lucas stood between us with a faint smile.
Adrian slung an arm over Lucas's shoulder and murmured something into his ear.
Lucas's face immediately darkened.
"Got it!" Diane called.
Lucas took his phone back.
"Thank you, Mrs. Whitaker. I have something to take care of, so I'll go." He looked at me one last time. "Emma, I hope you're happy."
After the wedding, curiosity got the better of me.
"What did you say to Lucas?"
