The morning light filtered softly into the kitchen as Lisa Summers poured water into the kettle, setting it on the stove. The quiet hum of the burner was the only sound in the apartment, a welcome reprieve from the intense conversations with Rose the night before. She inhaled deeply, hoping the routine of making coffee might calm her racing thoughts. She had barely slept last night, and this morning she woke up, her mind still heavy with thoughts.
