Dark had fallen again when the Jaeger’s Lost & Found sign finally came into view. Archie slammed the breaks, making the seatbelt dig into his chest as he flew forward. He winced as Gael rolled off the seat and down onto the floor. No time to think about it now. He rushed out of the car and yanked the backdoor open to pull Gael out. The rain was cold against his skin, and he hauled the uncooperative body into a fireman’s carry and jogged toward the building. “Edie!” He banged his fist on the door, staring at the closed sign.
