Archie woke slowly, surprised he’d been able to sleep at all. He glanced at his watch—a quarter to five. The sun wouldn’t set for another hour or two, not that he’d be able to see it through the heavy clouds, but he guessed that didn’t matter when it came to vampires. Crawling out of Gael’s hold, he went into the bathroom. His gaze landed on the earring as he washed his hands and he grabbed it. Back in the room, he simply looked at Gael. He was paler than when he was awake, and he was cooler to touch. The lack of breathing was a little creepy, but he was still Gael. Archie brushed a tress of hair from his forehead, but when his stomach growled, he stepped away from the bed. Perhaps he could buy a cup of coffee from the receptionist.
