Chapter 15: Big City, Big Lair.

1056 Words
After a very quiet and tense drive, we pulled up into a bigger city. I had never been here before, watching out my window as the buildings grew like trees. The deeper into the city we went, the more my stomach was tied into thick knots. What the hell did she mean that I was reincarnated? Is that why he is so attracted to me, because I look like some old queen? "Your Highness." One of the twins caught my attention. "I told you I didn't like that." I warned him. My already sour mood had my typically short fuse shorter. "Very well," Charles sounded hurt. The limbo came to a stop at the sidewalk of a massive towering building. My heart sank slightly at the thought of going in. Why should I? I could just run... The door opened and I stepped out without help. Slapping Charles' hand away. "Hello, little fox." The sultry voice sounded from my left. The tall handsome vampire stood leaned against the wall, his tux buttons undone. His tie hung loose around his neck, and he was smoking a cigarette. Smiling, I walked over to him. My black heels clicked with more power the closer I got. "Hi honey," I narrowed my daggers sarcastically towards him. His eyebrows shot up, confusion covered his typically hard face. "Sir we-" Before Charlie could finish, I reared my hand back and slapped James harshly. His eyes flashed red with hot anger. "Who the hell-" He started, and I slapped him a second time. "SHUT UP AND YOU," I stabbed my finger into James' chest. He smiled, seemingly amused for a moment. "LISTEN." I gritted through my teeth. My hand was stinging with pain. "You don't scare me." I stared at his blood-pooled eyes, "How could you not tell me?" "TELL YOU WHAT?" He hissed at me and shot daggers at his advisors. "You know what?" I said back coldly. My heart raced fast in my chest, but not from fear. From burning hot anger. "Me and Clara did have a thing okay?" The sentence was like a punch to my gut. I could feel the anger quickly turn to sadness. "W-wh-what...?" My voice broke and stuttered as the tears pushed the rims of my lids. "Shit.." James grabbed my hand and I pulled it back angrily. Staring at him through my blurring vision. Turning, I walked the other direction, taking off into the city. "Athena!" I could hear the footsteps behind me. "f**k off!" My voice breaking as my feet kept moving. ~James POV~ Taking the elevator down to my building, I checked my phone. The time displayed was 3:02. The twins should have taken her to the shop already and called. Shoving my phone into my pocket, the elevator dinged and the doors opened. Walking shiftily down the hall I am not going to waste any time. Today I finally had a short enough day to be back in time to hopefully spend it with Athena. I left things in an awkward place when we were together, but it truly wasn't my fault. I am a king, and full-time boss of several big companies. My businesses were software tech, construction, beauty, really as much as I could take on. I have a whole system of human bosses, waiting for their shot at 'eternity' and I was happy to give it then. As long as they kept my companies in good standards. Stepping out the swiveling doors, I smelled her scent through the breeze. Seems my little fox wanted to pay me a visit. Smiling to myself, I walked to the side of the building and leaned against it as I lit a cigarette. Before long, her limo pulled up to the curb. I could hear her racing heart. Charles opened her door, extended his hand. Their conversation sounded unpleasant, and she smacked away his hand. I watched her as she got out, her beautiful fair skin shone underneath her simple green dress. "Hello, little fox." The green fabric hugged her curves just right, her hourglass figure making its way elegantly towards me. This brown-haired, green-eyed girl was a stunning lady. My member pushed against my pants at the thoughts that invaded my mind. "Hi honey," Her voice dripped of honey, and sarcasm? "Sir we-" Before Charlie could finish, she reared her hand back and slapped me harshly. The demon inside wanted blood now, but I controlled it. Staring down at this brave girl. "Who the hell-" I started, and she slapped me a second time. This time I gritted my fangs as anger threatened to unleash. This was not the place for this. "SHUT UP AND YOU," She stabbed her thin finger into my chest. I smiled at the cute act, her trying to be so tough. "LISTEN." She gritted through her teeth. I could see the anger in her eyes, and I was just as mad. Whatever pissed her off, which was probably Clara, it did not call for this. "You don't scare me." Her hurt eyes stared coldly at me. I had yet to see this side of her. "How could you not tell me?" Her question drew up more than one thing. "TELL YOU WHAT?" I asked coldly. I didn't like where this was headed. "You know what?" She clearly wanted me just to admit it. "Me and Clara did have a thing, okay?" I said casually, since she already knew. "W-wh-what...?" Her voice broke, and I could see pain all over her doll-like face. The emotion did not fit her beautiful frame. As much as I didn't want to admit it, it hurt me to see her so sad. "Shit.." I muttered. What did I do then? I reached my hand and gently grabbed her hand, but she pulled back. She turned on her heels and started to walk away. She can not be in this big city by herself. There was too much danger, I decided to follow. "f**k off!" Her hurt voice shouted at me, and I stopped mid-step. What in hell? "Sir, she knows about the queen from before now." Charlie sounded from behind me. "Follow her." I mustered out. "Get her dinner, and get her back home. Or it's your fangs." I walked swiftly by them and to the nearest bar down the street.
