Chapter 5

Hunter gave me control back all of a sudden. Taking the opportunity, I made sure he didn't bother me or anyone else. I have to tell Eric, one of our elders, about hunters, and why he is acting this way all of a sudden. He was never impatient with anything, but this time he crossed all the limits. I looked down at the girl in my arms and somehow felt content, but as soon as my gaze fell on her shoulder my heart clenched.

" Faster!" I growled out to whoever was driving the car. She won't be able to heal herself like us. And her bleeding isn't stopping as well.

" Umm," she moaned softly, making me look at her angelic face. Her face was now pale and contorted in pain.

" Alpha," Alex said from the front seat.

" We are here," as soon as the words left his mouth, one of our men came and opened the door. I got out of the car and, without wasting any time, I stormed right inside my packed house.

I saw my family members waiting for me in the living room. I didn't have any doubt that the news about a hunter trying to mark a human girl who wasn't his mate didn't reach them. I quickly scanned the crowd as they all stood up looking at the girl in my arms.

They all seemed panicked looking at her, but I was searching for my mother.

" Oh goddess," I heard my mother gasping as she took in her condition.

" Where is Maria?" I asked sternly.

" She is already in your room waiting for you," my mother answered me instead. They are all afraid of me saying anything right now. I never cared for anyone, let alone a human. I don't despise them, but the mere fact that they are the cruelest creatures on earth makes it worse for every supernatural being to live a peaceful life.

" Bring me a fresh towel!" My mother said to one of the omegala.

" Upstairs," she ordered me. Panic and concern swirled inside her eyes. I didn't say anything and nodded my head before following her orders. She is the only one in the entire world who can order me around. And the fact that I know she is kind and won't judge me about what Hunter had done.

We walked through the hallway and to my room. I had to kick the door open, since there was no one to open the door. I stepped in and was welcomed by a bunch of gasps.

" Don't just stand there," my mother yelled, looking at all of them and staring at me in horror.

I walked to my bed and carefully placed her on the soft mattress. A soft moan left her mouth as soon as her back made contact with the matter.

" Get back," my mom said coldly to me, making me realize I was standing there looking at her fragile body. I looked at her before taking a few steps back from the bed.

I saw my mom rush to her with a towel in her hand. She removed the towel that was placed on her shoulder which was now soaking red with her blood. She then pressed the towel on her shoulder.

" Hurry!" My mother panicked. I stood there frozen, my mother never looked this stressed, even when my father was injured during the fight with roughs.

I saw Maria and all of the people who came here from the pack hospital started to work on her.

" Alpha!" Maria said, looking at me.

" Huh,"

" Alpha, you need to step out," she said. I looked at her, narrowing my eyes. Why should I have to go out? And that too from my room.

" Get out," my mother said coldly to me. I looked at my mother who was now hiding her hand and rubbing it, glaring at me.

" We had a long conversation," my mother said through the mind link. I didn't respond to her and made my way out to where I met Alex.

" We need to talk," I said and walked towards my office, which was next to my library. I heard his footsteps following me behind.

I pushed the door of my office open and stepped in. I walked to my table and stood there as I placed both of my hands on the table, hanging my head low. I sighed.

" It's all right man. She will be okay," Alex said, coming behind me.

" How come it's okay Alex? It is not okay. I tried to mark her. She is not even 18 yet and certainly not my mate, ``I said. My voice was low and full of concern for the girl that was lying in my bed now.

" Look, you didn't try to mark her, it was a hunter," Alex said, reasoning with me.

" It's the same thing, Alex," I said.

" I am the alpha king and I made a mistake. She is an innocent girl and just because of my beast she is now lying in her blood, ``I said as I closed my eyes and her face flashed before my eyes. I took a sharp intake of breath before opening my eyes.

" You can't change what has happened. Now we all have one question: why did the hunter try to mark her?" He said and I couldn't agree more.

" Did he say anything to you?" Alex asked.

" No, that bastard has shut himself down after giving back control," I said, as I straightened myself and turned to face him.

" We need to talk to Eric," I said and he nodded his head.

" Find out where he is," I said.

" Okay," he responded.

" Where is that man?" I suddenly remembered her father.

" In the dungeon," he said.

" Do you think he is one of us?" Alex asked and I shook my head.

" If he was, he would have transformed into his wolf after seeing his daughter in that condition," I said.

" I can't find any reason as to why Hunter was so possessive over her," he said.

" I need to visit that man," I said.

" Said the warriors to bring him into the pack house," I said.

" Ok."

I stood in my office staring at the wall behind Alex as I started to think about how much pain she was in now. When a werewolf bites someone, especially a human, we release a toxin that can feel like the body is burning. Their flesh is melting and if anyone tries to mark a human, she will bleed to death. I shuddered to imagine the worst. I don't know who she is or was, but I grew up on her.

" Please save her, the moon goddess. Don't let her die or else I won't be able to forgive myself," I prayed to the moon goddess silently in my mind.

" He is here," Alex announced, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I nodded my head at him before storming out of my office and straight towards the living room. I saw the man who had betrayed us was sitting on the floor on his knees. He looked like a lifeless soul.

Hearing my footsteps, he looked up and I saw hatred and anger in his eyes. But he knew too well that he couldn't do anything that he knew about our species.

" Who approached you to spy on us?" I asked him right away, walking closer.

" I don't know," he said, and I saw his eyes roam my body, making me realize I still had the stain of his daughter's blood on my body. I saw him stiffen visibly as unshed tears were threatening to fall from his eyes.

" Where is she?" He finally asked. His voice was low and defeated.

" I asked you something," I said.

" Is she dead?" He asked again with quivering lips.

" Why do you care about life so much? When all you planned to do was to destroy ours. Oh, because she is your daughter? Your blood?" I said, growling at him. As I took long strides to reach him, Alex was faster and held me from behind to from harming him.

" I am sorry," he said, looking down at the floor.

" I knew from the beginning that you guys are not like us but never said anything to anyone. One year after I joined your company, I got to know that my daughter has an illness and only your kind will be able to save her. But when I tried to reach the company, the man whom I knew was a wolf was killed by a man in front of me and he threatened me and told me to spy on you," he said. I was taken aback by his confession.

" Do you know anything about who that man was?" I asked. He shook his head and I saw the tears he had been holding all this while we were now rolling from his eyes and to the floor.

" All I know is that he had a tattoo on his hand that looked like a symbol," he said.

" Look into the description he is giving," I said to Alex through the mind link.

" Right into it," he responded.

" Take him to the guest house and guard it," I said and turned around to leave and check on her.

" Can I see her for the last time?" He said, making me stop in my tracks.

" She is alive and unconscious. You can meet her later, ``I said, and went upstairs.
