JENNIFER’S POV
It was night when I got there. He is usually at some meeting or party at this time, so this shouldn’t take long. The man at the door of the elevator didn’t say much. He just waived me. Andy Solomon, the biggest playboy in New York, lives in the penthouse of the Riviera hotel.
‘I didn’t expect the room to be like this. It should be dark and empty, but not this way. Is there something wrong?’
Another strange thought coursed through my mind, but I shook it away and moved forward. Usually, there should be a guard here and another at the entrance of the living room, but everywhere seems deserted.
This man lives like a mafia lord or something. He must be doing something illegal or smuggling stuff to have this number of guards around. If that lady at the studio knows what she is doing, she better hurry up and write the damn article about this man because he must be onto something.
The door to the living room upstairs seemed deserted too. I didn’t want to cause any noise at all. Removing my heels, I made it to the top of the stairs and turned right to the bedroom.
‘What is that sound?’ I pressed my ear to the door.
‘I knew it!’
I pressed my ear to the door again and heard the sounds again. I was sure he was cheating on me when he broke it off. Now I know why the doorman waived me in, thinking I was another one of the girls on the menu for the night. I was no longer his spec anymore. I will make sure he pays for this.
The sounds stopped abruptly and I could hear footsteps. I tiptoed to the kitchenette at the end of the hall, hid behind the door and peered through the keyhole. I watched as Andy and another lady walked out of the door and made for the stairs. I felt an urge to walk out and confront Andy, but I held myself back. I was here for something else.
‘Who’s there?’ I watched as Andy looked in my direction. My buttock had hit something behind me.
‘I said who’s there? Come out now.’
I stood still. Andy was shirtless. Gray sweatpants stretched from his waist downwards. He looked handsome as usual with his chiseled body and curved upper torso, which I loved to recline on. Now another woman was making it her space.
‘Andy baby, it was probably the wind from an open window or something I didn’t place well.’ The lady pulled him to herself and rubbed her buttock on his crotch. He smiled at her as she pulled his face to her lips and they kissed. I felt a stab in my heart.
They walked down the hall, stealing kisses and laughing; and then down the stairs; I had to make it quick before he returned. For the betrayal Andy, you will pay.
The bedroom was dim except for light coming from a security light outside the window. I made for the bed and fingered a keypad on a safe by the side of the bed.
I had just pressed the lock combination and was about to press the enter key.
‘Step away from the bed now before I shoot you.’
MAYA’S POV
This party is lit!
The dance floor was filled, the DJ was doing his thing and everyone was gyrating to the music. It was getting hot here by the minute. I didn’t know that Club Seven at the Riviera Hotel was this good.
I asked the waiter for another drink and snack to munch on. I had never been in such a place or had any fun in a long time. However, that wasn’t a fun night. I am here to do some work to boost traffic on my blog. My blog has to survive, one way or another.
The waiter returned with the snack and drink. As I ate, I watched as a little commotion brewed at the entrance of the hall. A small crowd had gathered and had brought out their phones. Who were they recording?
The crowd broke, allowing someone to come through. He was just the person I wanted to see. He was gently rocking his body to the music and a bunch of ladies followed behind him. More people joined in taking pictures and videos of him. Even the DJ changed the song to something groovier. Andy Solomon was now the eye of the party and I liked to be where the attention was. I was done with my drink now and wanted to go meet him, but I held myself back. This is not the time to meet him yet. I lay back in my chair and ordered another drink. Andy Solomon, we are going to have a nice long meeting.
The waiter was mixing my drink while I went through my mail.
‘It is not every day one sees a goddess by herself, sitting at the bar.’
I didn’t flinch at first. I knew the voice was directed at me. The voice continued.
‘However, a diamond cannot stay hidden. It must find itself attracted by people who know its value.’
I smiled, lifted my head, and was disappointed. It was not Andy Solomon.
‘I am waiting for someone, please. Can we talk another time?’
‘My name is Cisco and I have been watching you all evening, and you seem to like my type. Let me be the man of your dreams.’
‘Boy, how old are you?’ I sat up to ask. This was becoming an interesting conversation.
‘I am old enough to know what I want when I see it. And I know my heart wants you.’
‘I am your mama’s mate, boy.’
‘And I treat my mama well. I can treat you right; the older, the better.’
I chuckled. The waiter was done and handed me the drink.
‘It was nice meeting you, Cisco.’ I said, and walked away. It was time to meet Andy.
The surrounding ladies had disappeared, and he was standing alone with another man, probably talking business. And then I slipped.
‘Oh! I am sorry. I am very sorry.’
‘Don’t worry about it.’
He pushed me away gently and took a napkin to dab at the spot where I had spilled my drink.
‘Let me do that for you. It is my fault after all.’ I said.
I made for his hand to take the napkin and dab the pill, but he blocked me with his free hand.
‘Don’t touch me, lady. I will have another drink.’ Then he walked away.
I have to make an effort now, or I will miss this opportunity. Only one thing remains for me to do. I stood up, went out a moment later, and walked out of the bar.
It took only five minutes to get to the top floor of the Riviera Hotel. I was waiting by the bar, and then he walked in, alone. Now was the chance, it was time.
‘Get away from me woman. I remember you. Are you stalking me?’ He sounded pissed off. I walked to him and rubbed his shoulder. He looked at me and didn’t smile.
‘I just want us to talk and have a good time.’
‘Go home and give your husband a good time. Aren’t you too old for this?’
‘Too old for what? I just wanted us to talk.’
‘Get away from me woman.’ The elevator opened and he walked in.
A few people around laughed. I didn’t know that they were watching. I wished the floor opened up and swallowed me.
