Chapter 11: Morning Coffee

I slowly opened my eyes and found myself in an unfamiliar bed. For a moment, I panicked, wondering where I was and how I had ended up there. I shot up in the bed, my eyes searched around the room frantically. But the events of the previous evening flooded back to me— the dinner, the conversation, and the kiss on Luke's balcony. I smiled to myself, feeling warmth spread through my chest. I looked around the room, taking in the sleek, modern décor and the large window that flooded the space with natural light. After a moment, I got out of bed and padded across the room to the bathroom, I splashed my face with water and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked different somehow— more alive, more vibrant. I wondered if it had something to do with the fact that I had finally embraced myself.
