SILAS RUBBED his palms on the knees of his jeans as he waited in the lobby of the hospital where Godric had asked him (read: threatened him) to get checked at. The CEO of The Orchid told him not to worry because any expenses from all the tests that will be conducted to him that day will be charged to the company.
Silas sighed inwardly, it was not at all what he was worried about. In fact, he’s not worried at all. He’s just bored beyond comprehension. He’s not used to not working.
For the last ten years since he started officially working as Godric’s assistant, he could count the times he needed time off with the fingers on his right hand. He only had to take a leave from work when he’s gravely ill, when he needs to take care of something for Godric outside Clairhill—usually, council-related matters that would take more than half of his day, and when he needed to ‘closely babysit’ his boss. (i.e. when he has to monitor Godric’s whereabouts and make sure he’s not going around and killing people for blood.)
Silas looked at his left arm. He could not understand why Godric and Selene think it looks bad. He had suffered worse than this before. Working for Godric Octavius comes with many benefits but twice as much exposure to danger, too. But despite all that, he never really felt the need to be in the hospital every time something happens to him. In fact, if Selene had not been constantly telling him that he needs to have it looked at, he would let it heal by itself. Which was what he always does for any injury he’s had in the past. It’s not advisable, but he’s just as fine. And he could handle it.
He looked up at the monitor when he heard a soft ping across the lobby and saw the bright blue number flashing on the monitor that was attached from the ceiling of the nurse station: 107. Then, he glanced at the small piece of paper he was holding: 286.
Silas sighed again. I guess this is going to be a long day.
SELENE GENTLY woke up to Godric calling her name and through narrowly opened eyes, she looked around to see where they are.
Before leaving the Octavius Manor earlier after Godric accomplished that little less convincing act with Silas, he spilled it to her that he was planning to take her somewhere really special to him. He had been trying to persuade her to go out of town and have a short trip, to sort of de-stress from what recently happened to her with his brother.
Selene feels really lucky that her boss is genuinely concerned about her. So eventually, she agreed to go on a short drive with him. She fell asleep halfway through the drive, though. And maybe it was because she’s had a lot of things happen to her lately than her weak self could handle—she just left the job she actually liked on very short notice because a handsome CEO had offered her a new work; Caleb, her closest friend, had admitted his feelings to her before leaving his former job creating an awkward distance between them, and now they haven’t really talked properly again after she found out that he’s moved back to his hometown in Clessau; she also found out that she’s somewhat important to blood beings because of something unique in her blood, and that because of it, Godric’s brother assaulted Silas to try and kidnap her, and he was almost successful in feeding off of her has Godric not come on time to save her—so now, she just wants to take a nice nap as soon as the opportunity became available. And what better time to do it than while driving around the country, with the windows down and the soft wind blowing through your face?
Selene’s jaw almost dropped when she witnessed the beautiful view outside the car. She could swear tears started forming on the corner of her eyes at the scene she was beholding. She could not believe her eyes.
The car was surrounded by majestic tall trees, and in front of them was a gravel trail that leads to a small lagoon-like sky blue waters that goes around the thick forest-like trees. Giant mossy boulders and huge roots from the large trees appear like islands on an ocean in the smooth lagoon. There was a narrow walkway from what looked like the entrance where the car was parked to the lagoon, it was lined with smooth oval-shaped pebbles and some sand.
She had never seen anything even remotely close to the marvelous sight before her eyes. She looked over at Godric was staring back at her with admiring eyes behind the wheels. Her hands were covering her mouth. She wanted to speak but nothing was coming out of her throat.
“I’m glad you liked it,” Godric told her with a slight chuckle.
“This is fantastic!” She said, looking around outside the car once again. ”How did you find such a beautiful?”
“It’s man-made, would you believe it?”
She looked even more surprised. “No way.”
Godric nodded slowly. “Yes way,” he said. “I have been around a while. I’ve been to many places, but this was one of the most special to me. I bought this place some fifty years ago.”
She was amazed. The things rich people can buy, she thought.
“How often do you go here?”
Godric shrugged. “Not that often. Before, every time I want to look at something beautiful, I go here to look at the gorgeous blue waters.” He paused. “Now, I just look at you.”
Selene felt her face flush at his boss’s compliments. “Y-you can’t just randomly say that to your employee.”
“You’re not just an employee to me,” he said. “Hey, do you want to come closer?”
Selene looked up, stunned. Is he inviting her to kiss him? Too soon? But, isn’t that very unprofessional to do granted their relationship at work? Well, but she doesn’t work in a normal office setting and she doesn’t even know the rest of the employees working at The Orchid except Silas, and even if she’s a regular office girl, it’s not that bad to be liked by the boss, right?
I mean, I’m single. Godric is single from what I know. I’m sure, it’s alright.
But still…
“We can swim if you want. They say the water in that lagoon has healing powers or something,” he explained.
It took two full seconds before Selene understood what he was trying to say. She instantly felt embarrassed by what she was thinking.
Are you so sexually deprived to think that your boss was inviting you to lock lips with him? She chided herself. You’re so pathetic, Selene!
“Um, yeah, sure,” she said, unbuckling the seat belt and pushing the car door open. When her back turned on him, she wrinkled her face in embarrassment and mouthed curses at herself.
She was immediately distracted by the view, though. The lagoon was even more beautiful up close. The water was so crystal clear, she could see the ground and stones under the water. It was not too deep either.
“I’d feel really guilty to swim in my clothes here,” she said.
“You shouldn’t,” she heard Godric say from behind her. “I suggest going naked, though.”
“What—” Her eyes grew wide when as she looked over at Godric he was already removing his shirt. Selene turned her back on him.
Oh my God! Her mind was freaking out.
Selene kept her back turned from Godric. But she could hear the soft sound of him undressing from where she’s standing—the sound of his shoes being gently kicked off his feet, the sound of his belt being removed from the waist of his pants, the sound of the fly of his jean’s zipper as he pushed it downwards, and the sound of his pants being stripped off of him.
Selene could not help but feel warm all over and she could not understand why when Godric’s not even doing it to invite her to do something indecent. It looks like he just wants to take a quick dip in the water.
“I’m in the water, you can turn around now,” he said.
Selene played with her fingers and the hem of her shirt. Somehow, it feels wrong to do so.
“No, I’m fine,” she replied, quite loudly, in case he could not hear her voice because she still had her back turned on him.
When Godric didn’t say anything back, Selene slowly moved her face to look over her shoulder. She sighed quietly when she saw Godric’s back—his wide shoulders looked really attractive, and his nice biceps looks proportionately muscular.
Selene retracted her eyes from Godric, biting her lips as her fingers continued playing with the hem of her shirt. She only stopped what she was doing when she felt a little cold on her belly and noticed that her shirt was already a bit lifted and was exposing her flat stomach.
“Are you really not going to join me, Selene?” Godric asked.
She felt butterflies in her stomach when she heard his voice. She was so tempted to look back. And after a few seconds, she could no longer hold herself back. She was looking at Godric—his hair was dripping wet, swept up and neatly pushed back with the palm of his hands, his strong, wide chest and defined abdominal muscles are on proud display, his lower body was submerged in the water.
“You can keep on some of your clothes if you want,” he added, smiling.
Selene did not know what went through her but she just suddenly found herself removing her blouse and jeans, leaving her white matching underwear and she was waddling into the water. She tried to keep her eyes on Godric’s face because when her eyes went down for a fraction of a second, she noticed that he was not wearing his boxers.
“Good girl,” he grinned. He pulled her hand and gently led her into a deeper part of the lagoon, near a smooth boulder by the bank. “Do you know how to swim?”
“No,” she immediately replied.
Godric chuckled at her innocent cadence, throwing his head back, and flashing his beautiful pearly whites at her. “It’s okay, I won’t let you drown.”
Selene clung to him as she leaned against the rock. Her body, from her chest below, was now sunken in the water. She pouted at Godric when she realized something. “You must not like the color white.”
“Why do you ask?”
“You’ve deliberately pulled me away from the shallow part of the water so you don’t have to look at the undergarments I’m wearing,” she answered.
He lopsidedly grinned. “Do you know what you’re talking about, Selene?”
She didn’t respond. She tried to take in the surroundings instead. But she shrieked when she felt Godric pulling her by the waist, wrapping her legs around his waist and circling his arms around her body. She had no choice but to grab onto his shoulders for support, as she lowered her face to look at him. He still has a naughty smile on his face.
“Godric!” She complained.
He then furrowed his brows. “Are you even eating, Selene? You’re as light as a feather.”
“P-put me down, please.”
“Do you really want me to?” He asked.
Selene was silent. She just stared back at Godric’s eyes. “Why are you doing this?” She asked.
“Because I like you, Selene.”
“Because I’m a spellblood?” She offered.
“Because I like you,” he insisted. “Spellblood or otherwise, I like you.”
“You’re so skilled at making a fool out of women, Mr. Octavius,” she whispered, blushing.
Godric’s eyes traveled from her face to her neck and the two lovely mounds behind her white brassiere.
“I’m not making a fool out of you,” he said.
Without hesitation, Godric planted a small kiss between the crease of Selene’s breasts, his mouth moved upwards, leaving sweet trails of kisses on her chest, the base of her throat, and the skin between her neck and shoulder.
When Selene felt his fangs brushing lightly against her skin, she tilted her head to make him comfortable. Godric paused, only to ask her. “Do you want me to make you feel good again?”
“Yes,” she answered gasping. “Yes, Godric.”
They both closed their eyes as Godric sank his fangs onto her neck, and Selene bit her lips when the overwhelming pleasure washed over her.
