Chapter 2: The Wedding

930 Words
2. [ The Wedding ] Charielle's POV I'm already nine years old. I've been studying Filipino language for three years now. Still I have this British accent na hindi ko matanggal. You knowr, it's hard to get rid of something you get used to. The first Filipino words I learned were 'nanay' and 'tatay' kaya iyon na ang tawag ko sa aking parents. My Tatay kept his promise that he will give me everything I needed and wanted materially. He's the best Dad. He filled the emptiness in my heart I had for six years of my life without him. But my parents don't like the idea and it confuses me a lot. But who am I to disobey them? Kaya pikit-mata ko silang sinunod. Sila naman ang nagbabayad ng tuition ko. Finally, ikakasal na si Nanay at Tatay. Naudlot man ang kasal nila ng tatlong taon dahil nabuntis si Nanay, at hinintay pa namin maging one year old si Rica sa wakas, tuloy na tuloy na. Yeah it was a baby girl. The setting of the wedding venue is not that grandiose as everyone expected it to be. The interior design was simple yet elegant. It was filled with white Calla Lilies. But a sophisticated woman really caught my attention. She's so classy in her black trench coat dress. She's carrying a baby in her arms, kasing age siguro ni Rica na mas bongga pa ang damit kaysa sa kapatid ko. She's cheerfully talking with my Aunt Chelsea who's the Maid of Honor. Mas kamukha ko sya kesa kay Nanay. Aunt Chelsea is a big star now. So, I'm a bit popular too. Sometimes may mga nagtatanong sa akin na reporters about Nanay and Tatay na hindi ko maintindihan. Ang alam ko lang, naging sikat na newsanchor si Nanay while Tatay is a former professional basketball player and a singer. Anyways, I was busy looking at Aunt Chelsea and that glamorous woman when I accidentally skipped a step while descending the church's asphalted stairs. Buti na lang isang hakbang lang iyon and I was able to get back on my feet after I fell. Medyo nakakahiya dahil marami ang nakakita. When I stood up, there's a boy in front of me who lend a helping hand pero binawi rin naman dahil ok na ako. He's much taller than me, probably a year older than I. I was stunned by his comely downcast eyes when I saw them in an instant. His eyes are so enchanting that I almost forgot that I have to prepare for the wedding march. Ako kasi ang ring bearer. Inabot n'ya sa akin ang isang singsing without saying anything. Oh my, it is my Mother's wedding ring! Nahulog siguro nung ako'y nadapa. Everybody's eyes are on us and that gave me a blush. "Thank you." Along with my Mamita Alexa and Papito Dylan. They really are a lovely couple who flew all the way from New York just to attend this wedding. My Grandmama Jessica is lovely too. Oh, I forgot to mention my in-demand bachelor, Uncle Nicholas who's the best man. [Zachary!] Everybody's excited for the bridal march. My handsome Father in his black Tux is so dashing and eye-catching while Mother is stunningly beautiful in her simple A-line white gown with intricate laces. She's like a goddess wearing a veil marching down the isle. Her beauty alone fills the venue with charm and glamour. While I, is wearing a beige silk chiffon empire style gown, well, that's what I remember sa sinabi ng designer. During the ceremony, I feel so strange. Hindi ako mapakali. I should be focusing on the program but I really am distracted by that boy named 'Zachary'. Probably it is his mother. He's wearing a simple white long sleeves na bagay sa kanyang slender build. He's so mysterious that he made me too curious about him. This is my Tatay's big day, s'ya dapat ang pinaka gwapo. But will he be upset if I say, this Zachary boy is even more appealing? Ah, ang gwapo niya. He's such a nice sight to behold! So, he's my first crush? Ganoon ba yon? Everything in the wedding ceremony is like a fairytale. I'm glad, I was able to witness and be a part of my parent's one of the happiest moments in their lives. It's sad because I don't know why I feel like this way. Sana by any chance makita ko sya ulit.
