CHAPTERSEVEN

~RAVENNA~

I didn't sleep a wink that night.

After the conversation with the Alpha King, I couldn't shake off the dreadful feeling I felt. It almost felt like he was threatening me but why? Was it because I called him a monster?

All I knew was that I had to try everything to stay clear from him before he actually went through with his threat.

As the sun finally rose up in the sky, I could only get thirty minutes of sleep before I was woken up by Megan.

“We need to get ready. We'll be taken to the grand hall soon” She murmured softly to me and that dread settled down in my stomach again.

I immediately got up to get ready. They had advised us to dress sexily so as to catch the Alpha King's eyes.

Everyone, including Megan, was wearing sexy outfits while I got dressed in a pair of jeans and a white basic top.

I was almost one hundred percent sure that I wasn't going to be picked but I had to make sure.

“Not to burst your bubble but you look awful” Megan commented as she stood in front of me.

“That's the point. I don't want to be a s*x toy or breeder or the Alpha King. You seem to have changed your mind though” I pointed out and she pursed her lips as she played with her hair.

“Well he's handsome. I've never seen a man more handsome than he is and I'm not sure any other man like that exists. How bad can it possibly be?” She asked and I sighed.

“You see what he did to that girl? What if he does that to you? Don't tell me you're thinking you can change him like Jasmine? Men like that don't change” I said to her and she rolled her eyes.

“Sorry to say but you don't even know him. Just one wrong action is not enough to declare him a devil” She uttered and just frowned but before I could say anything, we heard a knock on the door.

“Come outside, it's time you leave” We heard a male voice say and before I could say anything, she walked away.

I tried not to think too much of it as I followed her from behind. We didn't say a word to each other as we walked out of the house and got into the bus.

As a matter of fact, she didn't even sit next to me. I frowned before glancing out the window, trying not to let it bother me.

One of the guards walked into the bus to make sure it was full and gave me a questioning look. Probably wondering why I looked like I was about to go to the market.

He rolled his eyes then walked away and soon after, the drive began.

On the way there, I could see the people staring at our bus with pity? I couldn't tell.

I couldn't help but notice how dull everyone and everything looked. The sun was shining brightly in the sky yet it felt dark and gloomy.

Not a sound could be heard and I had to assume it was because of the no singing rule. When we were offered the rule book yesterday and I read the content, I couldn't believe such a sad man existed.

It only solidified the poor outlook I had on the Alpha King.

Soon, we got to the hall and we all got down from the bus and headed into the hall.

It was almost a large hall and we were all made to stand in a horizontal line. I made sure to stay in the back so as to avoid eye contact with the Alpha King.

Jasmine, Megan and her goons were in the front. I sighed and shook my head before looking as soon as the Alpha King's arrival was announced.

That handsome man that had practically saved my life and who I knew as Calix, The Alpha King's Beta Was the first to walk in.

He had a much calmer And more approachable aura compared to the Alpha King.

The Alpha walked in soon after and the hall suddenly became Cold. I tried hiding the distaste on my face as he walked over to his throne and sat down while all the other girls were swooning over him.

It really was a shame that a face like that, a body like that was given to a man with a dark soul.

“We are not going to waste time here today. One by one, you'll step up and be accessed by his Majesty” Calix told us and one by one, the girls stepped out after bowing their heads at the Alpha King.

Many of the girls came here with super revealing clothes. They would bend slightly just so he could get a view of their boobs.

Along the line, Jasmine and some other girls were picked but not Megan. I could see from the look on her face that she was sad about it which made me frown.

Why did the Alpha King have such power against us? This didn't seem right.

Soon, it got to my turn and the Alpha King had already picked four girls and now, it remained just one.

As I walked towards the front, I avoided eye contact with him and kept my head low. If he ended up picking me, I'd have to find a way to get out of here because there was no way in hell I was becoming a s*x toy.

“Stop, no use coming forward. I would never pick you” He uttered and some gasped while Jasmine and some others laughed slightly. I wasn't shocked by his words but felt kind of embarrassed.

“Okay your Majesty” I uttered and was about to go back when Calix stopped me.

“Can I ask why, your Majesty?” Calix asked and I pursed my lips. Quite frankly, I didn't want to know why.

“Her own mate didn't want her, why would I? I don't accept sloppy seconds” He uttered and gasps rang throughout the hall while I raised my head abruptly and stared at him in shock.

His eyes connected with mine and I could see it in his eyes. He wanted to break me.

He was doing all this on purpose.

“What? Was I wrong?” He questioned and I clenched my fist.

“I didn't want to be picked by you anyway so thank you, Your Majesty” I replied back before I could stop myself then turned around and ran away as fast as I could.

I could have sworn I saw him smirk and damn, I was in big trouble…
