I took a breath in, "Listen, I don;t understand this cash or card thing you have," I pulled a leather pouch attached to my belt, "this is what I trade in." I pulled out two bars of solid gold. The man looked confused, and for once his smug i-know-everything-look was dropped, "ummmm, you can take those to the bank and get them traded for cash." He had a better tone with me now, clearly these two bars were worth something in this world, even if he wouldn't trade them someone would.
