Jason had reached out to a colleague in the Orthopedic Surgery department through whom he’d gotten an appointment with Dr. Meade, the leading hand surgeon at Dexington Medical. Dr. Meade had ordered some tests, and now Jason sat in his office waiting to hear the results. Hopefully, whatever was wrong wasn’t serious. “I’m sorry, Dr. Silvers,” Dr. Meade said, his startling blue eyes connecting with Jason’s. Jason froze, and sweat broke out on his forehead.
