Jason rolled the car to a stop in front of David’s parents’ house.
He glanced at Gabriella. She was fast asleep in the passenger seat beside him. She looked so serene and vulnerable he didn’t have the heart to wake her up. Jason adjusted his car seat, leaned back to wait, and thought about what had happened earlier this evening.
He’d had dinner at the restaurant with an old college friend of his who also lived in Dexington. The dinner had been fun and relaxing until he’d seen Gabriella dash out of the restaurant. He’d known immediately that something was wrong.
