Chapter 9 – Banished!

After speaking, Deron turned back still holding Alexa in his arm and he walked towards the door.

“How dare you, Deron? How dare you turn your back on me!” The Alpha’s suddenly thundered and Deron felt his body trembled while Alexa staggered forwards but he quickly caught her, holding her steady. His father wasn’t just any werewolf, he was the Alpha and the king of all them all, and with each core position in the werewolf hierarchy came special powers. Just being in the presence of any Alpha took a great toll on any weak mind and he was impressed that Alexa, an ordinary human was able to endure that long.

Hearing an Alpha speak was however, another matter entirely, the voice of an Alpha exerted varying effect on the hearer and now, his father’s voice even though low, was like a rumble, even Deron felt a tremor through his soul and he could just imagine what effect that was having on the human princess.

In the process of supporting Alexa, he had turned swiftly and the human princess was now leaning weakly on his chest. Now, he was also looking at his father right in the eyes.

“Forgive me for this father, but, you once ordered me to kill her. Thinking about that, I find it hard to forgive you or myself… But still, my word remains the same, no one, not even you are allowed to touch Alexa.” He stated and the Alpha golden eyes flared brightly. Now, Deron knew he had made his father genuinely angry but that was exactly what he aimed to achieve, he knew his father had always wanted him to become Alpha and Deron, even though not really interested in becoming Alpha, was still willing to comply to his father wishes and become the Alpha.

Now however, he had finally come to a decision, he had choose his mate over his pack. This was a decision he had to make because of Alexa’s safety, his brother hated him because he view him as an obstacle in the way of becoming an Alpha and because of this, targeted Alexa. Deron believed that as long he made his intentions clear about not vying for the Alpha’s place, his brother would have no more reason to target him or his mate.

“You are really bent on defying me, aren’t you?” The Alpha said.

“Forgive me, Father.” He replied.

“Is she... your fated mate?” The Alpha suddenly asked and Deron’s eyes widened.

“What are you saying Ivan, we all know that a werewolf can only be mated to another werewolf, what exactly do you mean by that question?” The Luna suddenly asked.

The Alpha looked at her for a moment before looking round the other leaders, “and who determines that?” he asked back and everyone quietened, looking at each other with baffled expressions.

Even Deron had never thought his father could think to that, he hadn’t revealed this to him partly because he thought the Alpha would not understand.

“Don’t be surprised, Deron. That is the only explanation for this madness of yours. So, you are ready to lose the Alpha’s throne because of her.” The Alpha asked.

“Yes, I choose her over the pack.” Deron replied firmly.

“You know, even with her as your Luna, you can still lead the pack.” The Alpha spoke.

“Caution, Alpha Ivan. Deron has broken the pack rules, he has brought in an enemy into the pack, he has defied all the leaders of the werewolf kingdom and the greatest of all, he has chosen a woman over the pack which he is supposed to protect. This sins will not go unpunished and the first of those punishment will be the death of the enemy, the death of the human which he had bring into our presence.” The Seer declared

“Then prepare to kill me first, all of you.” Deron said, holding Alexa’s shivering body closer to his chest as he glared at the seer, his canines barred in unconcealed threat. This was a personal challenge and great insult to every werewolf.

“Deron!” The Alpha shouted in anger and Deron turned towards him, his fangs still barred, and now there were no more whites in his eyes, instead, they had turned into two complete dark pools.

“How dare you!” The Beta shouted, no longer able to hold back his anger as he pounced towards Deron.

“Freeze!” the Alpha commanded, and everyone around felt their body freezing momentarily in place, not even Deron could resist the terrifying power accompanying the command.

Faster than any one however, he got back control of himself watching his father slowly walked towards him, the man’s eyes were glowing in bright golden light and Deron felt the urge to lower his head but he resisted, looking on at the his father until he stopped just in front of him.

Then the Alpha raised a hand unto his shoulder and looked up into his eyes, his father was tall but both of his sons were taller than him with Deron being slightly shorter than his half-brother.

“I understand you son, she is your fated mate and this is what every werewolf would do for their fated mate. Every werewolf would die for their fated mate but, it is not done this way.” The man paused, before sighing and walking back to his throne.

“Deron is hereby banished from the pack, forever.” Alpha Ivan declared and everyone turned towards him in surprise, even the seer seems caught off guard.

It was clear as day that the Alpha loved his first son, in fact, the leaders who really interacted with the Alpha knew he always tried his best to let Deron make decisions concerning the pack. The Demon wolf had just been so adamant and unless it was a matter of war, he would refuse to speak during meetings and the Alpha had eventually left him to what he knew best to do, battle.

Hearing the Alpha’s decision now however, they could not but help but think it was too cruel, the most they had expected was the removal of his status as the Alpha heir.

“A… Alpha Ivan, what are you saying, we should simply get rid of the girl and move on, why banish Deron.” The Beta said, even though he really felt Deron was annoying, he still respected the younger werewolf’s power and thought he could be a strong leader for the pack in future.

“The Alpha has made the right decision. This will be publicly published among all werewolves and again, all will be reminded that no one is above the law. And, we don’t need an Alpha who thinks a girl is more important than the pack.” Gamma Finn stated.

“Thanks father, I will take my punishment.” Deron said, before picking Alexa shivering body in a bridal style and walking out of the throne room.
