I watch the sunrise out the kitchen window as I am washing blood out of the many rags we used to treat Hudson's wounds. He is sleeping deeply in the middle of the entranceway, surrounded by pillows and blankets from all over the house.
"You will need to apply the poultice and change the dressings three times a day."
"I will take care of it," I say with a small smile. After taking care of Hudson, Ms. Victoria taught me how to make the poultice which will help his wounds heal faster and avoid infection.
"It will also help to keep the swelling down by icing his back every few hours. He won't like it, though; it is not exactly comfortable."
