Chapter 3: A visit To The Club

1759 Words
"Hey!" I exclaimed with excitement as I burst into Kathryn's room. It was a special day—it was Kathryn's birthday, and it marked her first-ever shift as a wolf. Kathryn, still dizzy from sleep, blinked at me in surprise. "Yvonne? What's all the commotion about?" "It's your birthday, Kath!" I beamed, shaking her gently. "And tonight, you get to experience your very first wolf shift. Isn't that amazing?" Kathryn exclaimed. "Oh wow, I almost forgot! Thanks for the wake-up call, sis." With a grin, I pulled her out of bed, trying to make this special day even more unforgettable for her. I took her downstairs, where we had arranged for a small birthday party surprise for her. Her friends also gathered around to celebrate. There was plenty of delicious food, drinks, and gifts. Of course, no birthday is complete without a cake to cut, and we all sang "Happy Birthday" as she made a wish and blew out the candles. And started gifting her. "Happy Birthday, Kath!" Mom and Dad beamed, handing her a beautifully wrapped gift. Kathryn wailed as she opened it. "Thank you, Mom and Dad!" she exclaimed, sincerely touched by the thoughtful gift. After the joyous birthday celebration, we made our way to the Full Moon Festival. The festival grounds were filled with guests, all enjoying themselves. It was a time for the young wolves to look their best, hoping to catch the gaze of their possible mates when the full moon emerged. As soon as the full moon came out, it glowed throughout the pack. The Alpha let out a loud howl. Signifying that it was time. Some of the eligible ones ran inside the woods for their shift, some started shifting almost immediately while my Dad and Mom took Kathryn to the arranged garden they had prepared for her. I turned to my dad, who was beaming with pride. "Dad, this is such a big step for Kathryn. I can't believe she's going to shift for the first time." Dad nodded. "It's a special moment, Yvonne. She's becoming a part of her true self." Mom, with a gentle smile, chimed in, "Kathryn has a beautiful spirit, and her wolf will be just as amazing." I couldn't help but be amazed by the beauty of the moment. "Kathryn, you look incredible," I said as I gently caressed her soft fur. Kathryn, now in her wolf form, let out a rejoicing howl. It was a moment we would all remember, marking her official entry into the pack as a true werewolf. Once we returned to the festival ground after Kathryn's successful shift, everywhere was filled with jubilation. Families of the young ones who had shifted and the other guests joined in the celebration, celebrating the special night. As the celebration was still going on, the word "Mate!" rang out, and everyone started scenting their mates. Excited screams were heard all over the pack, as I watched in awe knowing fully well that I wouldn't be part of those celebrating. Two young pack members, barely out of their teens, embraced each other tightly. "I can't believe it! You're my mate!" the girl exclaimed. Her mate grinned from ear to ear. "I've been waiting for this moment my whole life." Nearby, a man in his twenties and an eighteen year-old girl who just shifted hugged each other tearfully. "After all these years, I finally found you," he said, his voice filled with emotion. She smiled through her tears. "It's a miracle. Thank the moon goddess”. "Alpha! I have seen my mate, she's among our guests and a warrior from the northern pack!" Another young woman exclaimed with disbelief, "I can't believe it. I've known him since childhood, and now he's my mate." A man who had been searching for years gasped in awe, "I never thought I'd find her, but there she is, my mate." As I watched these beautiful moments, I thought of my sister so I quickly stood up to go look for her. By the time I found her, she was with her true mate; Jason Cole. A journalist and the son of the pack's second-in-command. Kathryn hadn't exactly been a fan of Jason, but the undeniable mate bond wouldn't let her deny him. As Kathryn's younger sister, I couldn't help but feel for her. She had believed her crush was her destined mate, but destiny had other plans. When she saw me, she held his hands and walked up to me shyly . “Jason, you already knew my sister Yvonne, Yvonne meet my mate Jason”. She shyly introduced. I extended my hands towards Jason for a handshake. “Please take care of my sister”. I pleaded. He chuckled and said. “She's my soulmate, I will love and protect her all the days of my life”. “Good,” I muttered. I leaned in to whisper to Kathryn, "Don't worry, Kath. I'm sure you and Jason will make a great pair." Kathryn smiled, "Thanks, Yvonne. I hope so too." “I can't wait for mom and father to meet him, I'm sure they would like him too”. I reassured her. “Yeah, I hope so too”. She replied. Throughout the festival, we danced and chatted about everything until late at night. My dad, who was also busy enjoying himself, seemed to have met a new friend. He met Mr. Jeffery Smith, who had arrived on the same day at the Full Moon Festival. Three days after the full moon party, I was coming back from school, I overheard Dad and Mr. Smith talking. Curious, I walked up to them to hear what they were discussing. They were chatting as if they'd known each other for a long time. They grew quite close and surprisingly fast, and they had become inseparable. "Hey, Dad, Mr. Smith," I greeted them. Dad turned to me, with a bright smile on his face. "Yvonne, how are you? Meet my new friend, Jeffery Smith. We've been having some great conversations." Mr Smith extended his hand, offering a warm handshake. " I See that Dad”. “Nice to meet you, Yvonne. Your dad has been a wonderful friend." I nodded, happy to see my dad in a good mood. "It's great to see Dad making new friends. What have you two been up to lately?" Dad chuckled. "Oh, you know, just telling him about our pack and the amazing children I have, and enjoying some good company." Mr. Smith added, "Your dad has been a great companion during my time here. It's been a real pleasure getting to know him and the pack." I couldn't help but smile.”I will be going home dad, see you soon Mr. Jason, I waved and walked out. As the days turned into weeks after Dad lost his job, I couldn't shake the feeling that his loss of job was my fault. I had played a very big naughty prank on him while he was performing surgery at the hospital, and the outcomes were shattering. I sent him a fake message, pretending I was in danger from a rogues' attack in the woods, and he had abandoned his surgery to come to my help. Tragically, the patient he had been working on didn't make it. He was called incompetent and was relieved of his job. We were grateful that he wasn't arrested. One evening, out of guilt, I decided to confront my dad about it. "Dad," I began hesitantly, "I can't help but feel that I'm responsible for everything that's happened." Dad looked at me, with disgust and pain. "Yvonne, you have no idea what your prank cost me. That patient's life, my career, our family's reputation..." Tears welled up in my eyes as I whispered, "I'm so sorry, Dad. I never meant for any of this to happen." Mom, who had been silently listening, spoke up with unhappiness. "Yvonne, what you did was wrong, your stupidity has caused us a lot. Your father is now seen as a murderer." Despite my apology, Dad's anger and bitterness didn’t change. He started committing self-destructive behaviours like gambling, clubbing, drinking and keeping late nights. Everyone distanced themselves from me. One fateful night, I went to a club in search of my father. Little did I know that it would lead to a terrifying incident. A drunk man took advantage of me, I was r***d. and even though my dad was present, he was too drunk to save me. Two months have passed since that horrible night. It was going to be my 18th birthday and I was still in pain and lonely. Another Full Moon was approaching, and I couldn't help but wonder how things would go for me. I was all alone. Two months had passed since that terrible night at the club, and my 18th birthday was fast approaching. Another Full Moon was fast approaching, making me wonder how it would turn out. I have been noticing a sign of pregnancy. My parents have been suspicious, they have been asking questions. I did not tell anyone what happened at the club. I felt my dad did that on purpose to pay me back. So I kept it to myself forgetting I could be pregnant. Now, I think I was pregnant. The worst part is that I couldn't provide the father of my child, nobody believed the story I told. “You're a disgrace to this family and you mean nothing to me”. Dad declared. “Dad, I didn't mean for you to lose your job,” I muttered to myself. I stayed alone, crying and thinking about how I got there. I regret all my actions. My birthday was a boring and dry one, not even as lively as the one Kathryn had. Unfortunately for me, I didn't shift to my Wolf form. I was Wolfless. My family was once more disappointed. I was treated like an outcast. I had no friends, they bullied me, they called me all sorts of names. The only good thing they did for me was just to allow me to stay in their house. My once-loving family became my nightmare. I went through pains all through my pregnancy. After nine months, I gave birth to the most beautiful girl in the world. Zoey became my source of strength. As I held her in my arms, I knew that I would love her and I'd do anything to make her happy.
