The Laun mansion never slept.
Even at midnight, the estate glowed beneath golden lights while armed guards patrolled every corner like silent shadows. Expensive cars lined the entrance. Security cameras watched every movement.
Power lived here.
Danger breathed here.
And in the middle of it all—
Laun Rachel walked inside dripping rainwater across polished marble floors with absolutely no concern.
A maid rushed forward nervously. “Miss Rachel, Chairman Laun has been waiting—”
“I know.”
Rachel removed her coat carelessly before handing it over.
The maid paused slightly at the soft smile lingering on Rachel’s lips.
That alone was shocking.
Because the mafia princess rarely smiled like this.
Not genuinely.
Not softly.
Rachel ignored the curious stares around her and headed toward the main living hall.
The massive doors opened automatically.
And instantly—
four pairs of eyes landed on her.
Chairman Laun sat calmly at the center sofa, expensive whiskey resting untouched beside him. His presence alone could silence entire rooms without effort.
Beside him sat the terrifying Laun twins.
Laun Rim looked elegant and composed in a black suit, his expression unreadable behind thin silver glasses.
Anderson looked the exact opposite.
Relaxed posture.
Tattooed hands.
Violence practically radiates from his body.
Meanwhile their wives sat nearby.
Saang looked graceful as always, reading quietly with one leg crossed elegantly.
Dual was laying half-asleep against Anderson’s shoulder while eating strawberries.
The moment Rachel entered—
everybody’s attention sharpened immediately.
Chairman Laun studied his daughter carefully.
“You’re late.”
Rachel walked toward them lazily.
“Traffic.”
Anderson snorted. “You disappeared for six hours.”
“I was busy.”
Rim narrowed his eyes slightly. “Doing what?”
Rachel sat down calmly across from them.
Then smiled.
A dangerous thing.
“I met someone.”
Complete silence.
Even Dual stopped chewing.
Because everyone in this family knew one thing very clearly—
Laun Rachel had never shown interest in anyone before.
Not romantically.
Not emotionally.
Nothing.
Chairman Laun leaned back slowly. “Explain.”
Rachel crossed her legs casually. “He owns a flower shop.”
Anderson blinked once.
“A what?”
“A flower shop.”
Dual suddenly burst into laughter so hard she nearly fell sideways.
“No way.”
Saang covered her smile elegantly with her hand.
Even Rim looked mildly stunned.
But Chairman Laun remained expressionless.
“What’s his name?”
“Kim Ruth.”
Rachel said it softly.
Almost fondly.
And immediately the twins noticed.
Oh.
This was serious.
Anderson sat upright now. “Wait—you actually like him?”
Rachel looked offended. “Obviously.”
“You met him today.”
“And?”
“That’s insane.”
Rachel shrugged calmly. “I decided already.”
Rim adjusted his glasses slowly, observing his sister carefully.
Rachel looked different tonight.
Lighter somehow.
More alive.
Interesting.
“What kind of person is he?” Saang asked gently.
Rachel’s expression softened instantly.
“He’s pretty.”
Anderson groaned loudly. “Of course that’s the first thing you mention.”
“He smells like flowers,” Rachel continued completely ignoring him. “And he smiles even when exhausted.”
The room quieted slightly.
Chairman Laun noticed that detail immediately.
“You investigated already?”
“Not yet.”
Rim glanced at her knowingly. “But you want to.”
Rachel nodded once.
“Yes.”
Chairman Laun rested his fingers against the armrest thoughtfully.
His daughter was many things.
Spoiled.
Dangerous.
Stubborn beyond reason.
But one thing she never did—
was speak emotionally about strangers.
Yet tonight?
Her eyes looked almost fascinated.
Obsessed already.
That could become dangerous very quickly.
Anderson leaned forward curiously. “So what exactly do you want us to do?”
Rachel answered without hesitation.
“Make him mine.”
Dead silence.
Dual whispered dramatically, “Oh my God.
Saang laughed quietly into her tea.
Rim closed his eyes briefly like he already had a headache.
Only Chairman Laun stayed calm.
“Rachel,” he said carefully, “people are not objects.”
“I know.”
“Then?”
Rachel looked directly at her father.
I don’t want to force him.
A pause.
“I just want him beside me.”
And somehow—
that sounded even more terrifying.
Because Laun Rachel had never learned how to want things halfway.
If she loved—
she would love obsessively.
Possessively.
Violently.
The twins knew this better than anyone.
Anderson rubbed his face tiredly. “This poor guy has no idea his life is about to collapse.”
Rachel frowned instantly. “Why collapse?”
“Because you’re insane.”
“You married Dual.”
Dual gasped dramatically. “Sister-in-law betrayal!”
Anderson looked offended. “That’s different. She chased me first.”
“Exactly,” Rachel replied calmly. “So I can chase Ruth too.”
Rim finally spoke again.
“What if he refuses?”
The room grew quieter.
Rachel’s expression didn’t change immediately.
But something colder flickered beneath her eyes.
“He won’t.”
Chairman Laun noticed it instantly.
Possessiveness.
Dangerous levels already.
He sighed internally.
His daughter inherited too much from him.
Saang carefully set down her teacup.
“Rachel… liking someone normal is different from the people in our world.”
Rachel looked at her.
“He’s innocent,” Saang continued softly. “If you truly care for him, you need to protect that innocence too.”
Rachel fell silent for a moment.
Because strangely enough—
that thought had already crossed her mind.
Ruth felt painfully soft compared to her world.
Like something fragile.
Something blood would stain too easily.
And yet…
Rachel still wanted him desperately.
Chairman Laun finally stood from his seat.
The room immediately straightened slightly from instinct.
“Rim.”
“Yes, father.”
“Investigate Kim Ruth quietly.”
Rachel looked up immediately.
“No harming him.”
Rim raised one eyebrow. “Wasn’t planning to.”
“Or scaring him.”
Anderson muttered under his breath, “There goes my fun.”
Rachel ignored him completely.
Chairman Laun continued calmly. “I want full background reports. Financial condition. Family situation. Any threats around him.”
Rachel’s chest warmed slightly.
Her family was already accepting this.
Fast.
Very fast.
But then again—
the Laun family had one fatal weakness.
Rachel.
If she wanted the moon—
they would probably try buying space itself.
“Thank you, daddy,” Rachel said softly.
Chairman Laun’s expression instantly softened.
Dangerous mafia chairman gone.
Just a father now.
“You’re smiling,” he observed quietly.
Rachel blinked slightly.
Then touched her own face unconsciously.
Oh.
She was.
Anderson stared dramatically. “Wow. She’s gone.”
Dual nodded seriously. “Deeply gone.”
Rim sighed. “This is going to become troublesome.”
Rachel leaned comfortably against the sofa now.
For the first time in months--
she felt excited about tomorrow.
About seeing someone.
About hearing someone’s voice.
It was unfamiliar.
Addictive already.
Meanwhile—
across the city—
Kim Ruth sat at the small kitchen table helping his little sister with homework while trying not to think about a certain girl dressed in black.
But failing badly.
“Oppa,” Yuna suddenly said curiously.
“Hm?”
“You’re smiling at nothing.”
Ruth froze instantly.
“I’m not.”
“You are.”
“I’m tired. Eat your food.”
Yuna narrowed her eyes suspiciously before grinning mischievously.
“Ohhhh.”
Ruth immediately knew that tone.
“No.”
“There’s a girl.
“There is not.”
“There IS.”
Ruth sighed deeply.
Unfortunately for him—
the image of Rachel smiling inside his flower shop refused to leave his head.
And somehow—
that scared him a little.
Because people like her didn’t enter ordinary lives quietly.
They arrived like storms.
And deep down—
Kim Ruth already felt his peaceful world beginning to shake.
