Chloe splashed cold water on Lina’s face, tugged gently at her shoulders, and shook her lightly. “Oh my God. Ma’am! Ma'am!” Lina’s eyelids fluttered. A faint groan escaped her lips. Chloe exhaled, relief flooding her, but she was still a little scared.
She slid an arm under Lina’s shoulders and carefully helped her sit against the wall. “Lean back here. You need to rest for a bit.”
Lina swayed but Chloe held her steady.
Her eyes darted to the drugs, she swept them up, tucked them into her apron pocket, then helped Lina gently out of the bathroom and onto the bed. Her hands trembled as she adjusted the pillow beneath Lina's head.
She cleaned the floor, flushed the residue down the toilet, and wiped down every surface. Then she took a neat damp towel and went over to Lina.
