The Unexpected Discovery

Santos Needed time, he needed time to get some things in order before he could concentrate on surgery and recovery.

The pain he felt was excruciating at times but he had a couple remidiese to help him throughout the day and he took some of his prescription meds when he just can’t relax.

At a follow up appointment about 2 weeks after surgery confirmation, Santos watched the doors of the elevator start to open and he remembered Daniel and his sweet care taker/ Nanny. He stepped back and peeked out of the elevator before taking that first step forward, just in case Daniel showed up and ran over his toe (as if his pain wasn’t enough, he did not want to have to deal with a crushed rolled over toe.) There was no Daniel Though.

As Santos went on with his day, getting everything in order for his “time off”, his Mom asked him if he wanted her to come out for the first week or two after his surgery, and if he has thought about what he is going to do operated and all alone in his house.

“Hay Hijo, te va tocar buscar una enfermera para cuidarte, por no buscar te una mujer por ayi y andar siempre sin novia” chastised his mother explaining that he will have to find a nurse to care of him since he has failed to find a woman and never has a girlfriend.

“No es cual quiera que me aguante Ama, y una señora bien inteligente me enseñó que no confiara sin conocer” (Not just anyone will put up with me Ama, and a very intelligent woman taught me not to trust without knowing) he politely reminded his mother the man she raised.

Daniel and his caretaker came back to Santos’ mind. Santos had thought about that young man more than a few times since they crossed paths that first time. But today was a little different. Today he was being a little selfish and was wishing he knew a care taker as delightful and sweet as Daniel’s. (He wasn’t too keen on the idea of his Momma coming to care for him)

Santos is a very wealthy man, Billions of notes stand fortified behind Santos Cruz name but his fortune is not known to everyone. He enjoys a particularly private existence keeping family close and friends are only those who have earned trust. But as we all know money has the ability to move most mountains, and Santos knows his powers of persuasion are almost impossible to avoid.

The next morning Santos was on the phone beginning his hunt for Daniel and his care taker, and was determined to find them. There are over 25 doctors the 2 floors of the Medical Plaza which potentially will lead to thousands of patients. But Santos has a secret weapon that will allow him to find Daniel faster. Santos pays very close attention to detail in all encounters he has, Daniel is in his teens, he is very good in his wheelchair and he is a double amputee. For Santos those facts increase his probability of finding Daniel faster than just the average Joe.

First Santos called his doctors office, and was quickly transferred to Dr. Mathers.

“Dr. Mathers I have a very odd request, and you must know that I understand privacy policy but I will NOT take no for an answer”

Santos explained he was looking for a young man he encountered at the plaza.

“Mr. Cruz, please forgive me but Honestly Im a little concerned at your request”

Santos sat back and thought about it for a moment, realizing his request is more than just a little un ordinary, ge explains further.

“My interest, Doc! is with the boys caretaker.” and her services, You are the doctor that is about to slice me open right??”

“Haha, Well Mr. Cruz when you put it that way, we have a couple of pediatric doctors in the plaza, allow me to make a couple of calls and find something out for you.”

“Perfect” responds Santos, secretly thankful he didn’t have to press any harder.

“And quickly Doctor, Surgery is sooner not later” he reminds the Doctor.

He disconnects the call and tries to concentrate on what exactly he is going to need and what he is going to do for the first six weeks after surgery, he tries not to think about Daniel’s care taker being over booked with clients, and is trying to focus on getting a plan together. If he could just meet with her, he knows money speaks volumes and he has plenty of that.

“Santos speaking” he answered his phone, not realizing he’s been occupied a few hours now.

“Mr. Cruz, Doctor Mathers, I have some information for you.”

Santos reaches for the pen he tossed across the desk when the phone rang.

“I have narrowed it down some for you. Dr. Landon confirmed with me that the young man you mentioned is his patient, and he has clinic with him every Wednesday,” the doctor continued, “ Daniel has had a lot of different complications but Dr. Landon says he is an amazing young man with an amazing support system.”

Santos smiled as he remembers Daniel’s care taker scolding him. “Doctor do you know how long his care taker has been with him?”

“I’m sorry Mr. Cruz, I don’t, I couldn’t ask many questions due to privacy and all, you understand?” Questioned the Doctor.

“Yes, Sir, I understand. Would you happen to know what time the clinic runs on Wednesdays?” Santos asks.

“I was thinking the same way Mr. Cruz, Your follow up appointment with me will be Wednesday at 11:00am” you could hear the grin in the doctors voice.

Santos was happy he chose Dr. Mathers as his doctor, “Great Minds think a like”
